Default Polishing wheel lips. Have a ??

I did a search but didnt get the results i was looking for. I recently aquired a set of Mugen MR5's and the polished lips of the wheels need some love. They have some sort of hard buildup on em. Wanting to get some info on how to bring these back to life. Should i sand the lips with some fine sandpaper with enough grit on them to scuff the metal and then put some polish on them?? Any info will help me out. Thanks in advance.

dont use sand paper (well from my experiences) unless you want to sand down the WHOLE lip and take it all the way down to the bare metal....which takes forever. i would just suggest maybe a clay bar or some sort of degreaser then a few coats of mothers polish with a dremel buffer or soemthing liek that. try it on a small section first, then if it works, go onto the whole wheel. take your time thuogh. it took me 1 1/2 weeks to do my SSR lips...
