Exactly. Personally you can't go wrong with the K20 if you have the money.

Why do you think it will not last? is it lossing power or burning oil? Do a compression check and leak down test before you throw out a possibly good engine that could last another 300k miles.
It's losing power and burning oil like crazy
it wouldn't start the other day-my bf told me it was just be the battery
i really just want to buy a new engine while I have money to spare<alittle more than $900

well, why don't you throw another d-series engine in there. a d16y8. it's prolly what you have already. there's plenty out there. you can find one for cheap and you'll still have money left over. put a wanted ad in the classifieds and i'm sure you'll get some hits. just try it. and d16's are beasts. i beat mine everyday. lol. good luck.
Since you are in TN- a GREAT source for affordable used engines is Evans Honda/Acura Specialists in Newport, TN (they are the largest honda/acura junkyard in the SE) I'm not sure where you are but they're about 40 min eastish from us (we're actually west of Knoxville).
Their # is 423-623-8781 if you are far enough away from them you don't want to/can't pick it up they can ship to you. http://www.evansautomotive.net They can also install for you if you aren't able/interested in doing it yourself.
(We get the engines we race with from them...they "sponsor us" if you go this route please tell them- most likely Jeff- that Lyonel Kent sent you.
)

edit- I just found out where "Mountain City" is..near Johnson City right? Evans should be somewhat convenient for you- not "local" but not far either...whether you choose to just replace your engine (exact same as came stock- which would be cheapest as there would be no other parts to buy like w/ a swap) or actually swap something else in your car...seriously call Evans- they are good people & cheap & you should at least get a quote from them.

Actually, we're about in the same boat. i have a 93 civic hatch that also has a little over 300,000 miles on it. i asked this same question just the other day, and someone suggested replacing it with a B16a or a d series engine. It would cost around 2 thousand bucks, and it would get you a little more power as well.
