Which is called what? Are bushings needed for these? I hope I don't tear apart my car. I just installed a combo set, 2 front, 2 back, and the car seems more responsive and cornering's insane. Is there any danger on the highway at high speeds? Tire hoppage?

 

just wondering but y would u do someting to your car with out knowing the pros and cons of it. but to answer your question if it is all done properly it should be fine and who is the stuff made buy and were did u get it??

 

You know how it is when you get something in the mail and you can hardly wait to try it out... I just slapped it on and drove off all exicted like a kid with a new bike. But a few days ago, I read a post before about somebody having torn their shiznit from tie bars, not sure if this applies to all set-ups. I have neuspeed lowering springs already, on stock struts. The bars I found and bought online, Bomz racing.

 

From what I have seen the tearout is being created by using a rear sway bar that is to thick\stiff without some kind of bracing. Not sure a tie-bar puts enough stress on the contact points for tear out by itself.

 

if your talking about those ebay specials....they are front & rear strut tower braces/bars & front & rear lower tie bars.


what causes the subframe tearing problem is a beefy swaybar.
people argue this topic all the time....what will tear it & what will not.
what re-inforcement will protect & what will not.

from all that i have read it seems that anything stiffer then a 19mm on a civic could possibly tear the subframe, even with a re-inforcement brace.

if you wanna be safe, get a stiff suspension(strut & spring combo) & a medium size bar like a 19mm suspension technique bar or a GSR bar & you should be fine.

if you wanna go stiffer like a ITR or a stiff aftermarket, make sute you get a re-inforcement kit, like a Beaks, Competech,e tc..

but be warned....there are people who have torn subframes with these re-inforcement kits.

 

no problems with my comptech rear sway/tie bar combo so far

 

No problems with my ST rear sway with no reinforcement after road racing the **** out of my car .

what one...the 3/4" or the 1".......cause you shouldn't have any problems with the 3/4 = 19mm

the 1" one might give you problems later on without re-inforcements.


& in my above comment....i didn't mean eveyone would tear subframes...i was just stating the possiblities.

 

would a lower tie help the rear subframe from ripping?

not just a regular lower tie bar...


but come companies make a re-inforcement brace that has a built in tie bar.

search for suspension techniques swaybar tiebar combo.

I think the comptech is the same way
