night at the local racetrack
So I was down at the local track and having a pretty good night, and really enjoying the R.
near the end of the night i missed a shift ( I know...I know...) the tach went up to where 12 or 13 might be. I immediately slammed on the clutch and threw the shifter into neutral. I let the car roll for a while and took a moment to listen for sounds and curse a lot. I was so dissapointed in myself!, afterwards the shifter wouldnt go into gear at all!! and i had to get the car towed to the dealer.
they ended saying my clutch is burnt out and damaged my flywheel.
I also asked them to perform a compression and leakdown and I got the following #'s
cylinder 1 (178)
clyinder 2 (178)
cylinder 3 ( 180)
cylinder 4 ( 178)
and 12% leakdown on all clyinders
now they tell me that these #'s are within spec and I have nothing to be worried about, but I'ved read alot of archive posts on how 5% leakdown is where I want to be
help??? am I in big trouble???

u sure u dont hear any ticking sound? there's a high chance u bent some of your valves.

I couldn't find an animation for a honda, and gave up. Lots of money shift posts in this forum.

phew!!! thanks for the feedback guys!
I asked my trusted honda machanic, and called several other acura dealerships in my area and they say that my #'s are fine, high compression Hondas usually put out 175-200 on normal working cylinders and the 12% leakdown I got is nothing to be worried about either. Im so happy to hear this, I sure as hell am one of the lucky ones, and thanking my lucky stars. so the damage is clutch/flywheel and Iam getting a valve adjustment
Thanks H-T

So I finally got my caR back from the dealer, and a new clutch/ resurfaced flywheel, waterpump/timing belt ( did it while it was all open to save me the trouble later down the road) and a valve adjustment later.... leaves me with an empty wallet. But I am so happy that things turned out this way and not the infamous blown valvetrain route!
Thanks again for all of you who helped out

i checked the compression on mine when i bought it and it was about 255.
Why are your numbers so low, do u know how they did the test. I guess it was probably on a cold engine

I asked the same thing, they told me that thats the highest their tester is calibrated to. I guess some testers range from 160-200

yeah the lower number the better
sure 5% is where you want to be at..
but 15% and even comp results sounds like an engine that might not be the gnarlies R ever,
but it probly works just fine
