Default Weird problem with brakes on my 89 hatch...

Just had my master cylinder and brake booster replaced...now i drive and 10-15 minutes into the drive, the brake pedal gets stiffer, and moves less...also brakes seem to be dragging...does this sound like a defective booster? constantly applying pressure onto the master cylinder? im not to sure, would like some help tho!

Now this is not for sure....BUT it sounds like you may have a stuck caliper. Have you checked them to see. I have one right now I am needing to fix.

Take the wheels off, and have someone pump the brakes as you watch the caliper. If both top and bottom are sliding when they push the brakes they are ok, of one side sticks while the other slides you need to rebuild your caliper.

If they both slide normally then you may be on the right track, just something really easy to check before you tear off all the stuff and have to bleed again ect.

Sounds like the booster to me. I assume the vacuum line is hooked up right?

There's are threads on the rod coming through the firewall (don't know what it's called) from the booster. You can adjust when the pedal engages the booster. Maybe try backing those out slightly and see what happens......in a safe place, of course

Do you have the old booster, so you can check visually?

What a PITA......swapping boosters

Have you checked your rubber brake lines?

I have a problem like this on my '83 Civic.

Brand new M/C, brand new booster, brand new calipers.

I'll be driving fine for a few minutes and then my brake pedal will get stiffer and stiffer. And my brakes will be at full lock.

Everything checks out okay, and everything is new except the rubber lines and the prop valve.

I hope it's one of those on my car. One of my experienced buds says he's 95% sure that it's the rubber lines.

I haven't tried replacing them yet because nobody carries them and Honda wants a freakin fortune for them!

It's something to check out
