Putting a S2000 oil filter on my 98 ?
So i have heard that the S2000 filter s are better than OEM for an accord is this true?
If so anyone know why they are better?
And anyone know for sure that it will fit on my 98 Ex 4cyl?
Can you go to Honda and get an oil change and just ask for a S2000 filter to be put on?
Thanks

The construction and materials of the S2000 filter is way better than the standard Honda filter. When purchasing the filter, the part number should contain the letters PCX. The PLM filters are the crappy ones.
waste of money on stock engine...ppl with 300,000 mile hondas are usually 90-93 year so for 8+ years it would have been impossible to run an s2k filter, yet they last forever...just stick with the skinny long ones or just use an ac delco, they were rated the best filter from autozone/pep boys type store a while back by bobistheoilguy i think and theyre like $3-4
I'm not saying it's not possible for an engine to last that long on the regular filters. Hell, I still use Fram filters even though I know they're crappy (basically the same as the PLM filters).
If he wants the added protection, I say go for it. It's only a few more bucks over the course of a year.
Not to mention, who's to say that all those people with 300k+ miles used Honda filters?

I hope so, because a few months ago I bought a ten-pack of the standard Honda filters. By the way, is there a special tool for putting them on or removing them? Say what you want about Fram, but I really liked their rubber hand grip at the end of it, made it easy to put it on or remove.

If I remember correctly, Fram makes the PLM filters... I've seen pictures of both filters cut open. They look identical in construction and materials.
I wouldn't say that there's anything wrong with them really... They're just not as good as other filters. I just continue to use the Fram filter b/c they're inexpensive, but really b/c of the grip.
Oh, and yes, there are a few different kinds of filter wrenches for removing oil filters. Some work well, others don't. When putting the new filter on, you should ALWAYS tighten it by hand. Never use a filter wrench to install it... Most crush the filter a little bit while it grips it.

o, yea...and my opinion for this oil filter...its really just upto u, yea..u'll get more protection from a nice filter like a S2K or K&N, but is it worth the money? i make about 60 bucks a week working parttime at safeway(damn taxes and union fees!) so im shyt poor, so i just stick with reg honda filter but i do splurge a lil on mobil 1(just cuz it sounds cool!
) but if u have the money, **** it, go out and buy a nice *** filter, if u have the money, i saw its worth it, if u dunt, u shud be spending those few extra dollars on the dollar menu at mcdonalds so u wont starve til ur next paycheck, heh heh

dont mean to be a dick, but theres a bunch of threads of oil filters already. just search "s2000 filter" in the accord archive, and youll get plenty of good info. heres just one of the threads from a while back that i remember posting on:
