Default Ls/vtec turbo build up... questions...

I'm buying an ls/vtec with about 100k miles on it for $1500. Taking auto classes where we do nothing but rebuild motors. Anyhow, my question is... what would I need to do to be able to boost 8 psi daily driven and around 12 psi at the track. all i'm thinking about doing is changing the pistons to 8.x:1 compression. anything i need to do to the block to make it somewhat bulletproof? btw, its running on a 91 ls tranny. is it worth changing it to a gsr tranny? this motor has to last me three years or more btw. thanks for any input. oh, and if all your gonna say is "do a search" or some other bullpoo poo, go lick my nuts cuz i already did and found nothing i already didnt know.

sleeve it, pistons/rods.. make sure u r using a bad *** oil pump with that LS/vtec, dont rev it over 7800.. 9:1 compression

first mistake u made is buying an LS/vtec if u need a motor to last 3 years.

hmm..keep the LS tranny, it has better gears for turbo app. also, i think 8.XX compresion is too low for a street car. im using 9.01 and its just fine with my ls vtec.
