Oil pan leak?
Okay i recently had a oil pan leak. I replaced the gasket 2 times and it still leaked. I replaced the pan and another gasket, torqued it properly and it still leaks. What can be happening for this to happen. Could something else be leaking making it look like the oil pan? HELP!

I bolted it down in a criss cross pattern and i doubt its the drain plug because the puddles on the ground aren't just 1, there is like 3 seperate dripping spots. Maybe its leaking from something, getting onto the car and then dripping off when i drive? The thing that makes no sense is when i stop driving my car, it drips but after a while it slows down then eventually stops? The whole underbody of my car is drenched in oil because this has been goin on for a while. Could it have anything to do with the filter being on too loose or too tight, i think its on good?
what you should do is run the motor to operating temp. or until u see oil leaking from the oil pan. then shut it off, jack it up, and get under their and look for any leaks that is coming from the head, block, oil filter, oil pressure sensor, distributor, cam seal next to the distributor or behind the vtec solenoid, cam seals behind the cam gears where the timing belt is, and anything else from the top down to the BLOCK not the top to the oil pan but the top to the BLOCK. if everything is ok, no leaks from the part where the oil pan meets the block and up to the head then you should double check the oil pan gasket. Check by seeing if there is a small thin amount of oil leaking out between the pan and the gasket and exactly where the drips are coming from. while warming up the motor, wipe down the oil pan until there isnt any oil drips left. then just wait and see where oil is coming from so that u at least know where to narrow the spot at. if its near the transmission then u either have a bad rear main seal that is behind the flywheel or u messed up on the oil pan. but before checking the rear main seal, what I suggest is to remove the oil pan again, thoroughly clean it again and the block w/ brake cleaner or acetone, clean the gasket w/ anything as long as the gasket is super clean, after all that is done get under and look for two metal o-rings that are located on the two studs near the transmission. if they are there take if off as u wont get a good seal becuz the metal o-rings will give a gap. if they are not there then your good. then get some HondaBond from the Honda dealer and apply the sealer on the oil pan all around, let it sit for few minutes, put the gasket over it, apply the same amount over the gasket, let it sit to harden up a little, and finally putting it on providing and sure that the block is completely clean off of any residue where a clean napkin will NOT pick up anything. then making sure that u tighten it down from the inner out. while tighten, the specs is 10-ftlbs, which that is roughly hand tighten, watch the gasket being squeezed outward. when it does then STOP. after the rest is tighten down w/ the gasket being squeezed out a little bit, go over the bolts again but this time tighten it up just a LITTLE BIT MORE, say less then 1/4 of a turn becuz if u over tighten the bolts the gasket will squeeze out too much, the Hondabond will break the sealing, the two parallel lines on the gasket itself will not be able to stay flat, and oil will leak out. 10-ftlbs is the same as hand tighten. so dont go over too much. just a little squeeze of the gasket is fine.then add a good amount of Hondabond around the edges of the oil pan for extra sealing. after let it sit for 24hrs so that the Hondabond can fully cure and dont add oil yet until ur ready to start it up. if follow correctly then there shouldnt be any leaks becuz the method I show u have a lot the sealer around and inside show it shouldnt leak. if u still do and the oil is coming down near the transmission side then definitely its the rear main seal providing that there is no other leaks and the oil leak isnt coming from the head down. I hope this help u becuz it has for me and keep us posted so I know whats up. PS make sure u get HondaBond high-temp. and dont be shy about using it. oh yeah if the u see oil coming out from the edge then tighten it up just a bit more until it stop leaking. also if there is oil coming from the edge but it just stays there and dont drip or leak down to the oil pan then that is fine. positive pressure in the crankcase is the reason that the oil comes out but dont leak down.
