It doesnt matter. As was stated above, all the thermoswitch does is connect the two together to create a ground.

Just get a toggle switch that connects the two leads together when its flipped "on" and severs the connection when its flipped "off". they are both ground wires. THe thermoswitch just connects them at a certain temperature.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by coot_er &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">im trying to split the ground wire off so that i can have a manual switch. thats why i would like to know witch is the ground and which is the hot wire.</TD></TR></TABLE>

there is no damn hot wire, its a GROUND switch, as in when it heats up, the switch closes and completes the ground allowing the fan to turn on. If you want to put your fan on a toggle, run power to your fan, and your ground to a toggle switch. This isnt rocket science.
