wires on thermoswitch. which is which?
im trying to split the ground wire off so that i can have a manual switch. thats why i would like to know witch is the ground and which is the hot wire.
Just get a toggle switch that connects the two leads together when its flipped "on" and severs the connection when its flipped "off". they are both ground wires. THe thermoswitch just connects them at a certain temperature.

there is no damn hot wire, its a GROUND switch, as in when it heats up, the switch closes and completes the ground allowing the fan to turn on. If you want to put your fan on a toggle, run power to your fan, and your ground to a toggle switch. This isnt rocket science.

i figured it out. i had the black one grounded to the chasis. when i flipped it around and grounded the yellow it turned on.
