This is an 86 prelude 5 speed. It has been sitting in my friend's backyard for almost a year now. We charged up the battery and replaced the fuel filter. It cranks but won't start. When starter fluid is spray'd into the intake, it will start for a split second but die. Is there anyway to check and see if the fuel pump is working?
We also tried to push start with no luck.

when you turn the key twice you should hear the fuel pump turn on.

 

check to see if youre getting a spark

 

yah we don't hear anything... pretty sure its the fuel pump

 

before you check the fuel pump check

fuses
main relay
ground ... then if it still dont work then fuel pump.

 

Very easy. If you don't have a fuel guage? just take the fule line off. Have a friend crank it and look for fuel to shot out.
