stupid reason for a CEL

Default stupid reason for a CEL

has this happen to anyone...I notice my sisters cel was on in her rsx and I asked what that was about..she stated that she went to acura and they stated that her gas lid wasnt on tight enough....whaaaaaaa...she said that she took it off and turned it about 3/4 times and in the manual it saids something about this too....is it me or this a stupid reason for CEL code

No. They're just trying to be as safe as possible. Says to click it at least 3 times on the cap.

so what really happens if you don't tighten it enough? does it suck in stuff?

honda gas tanks are pressureized(is that right?) so the cel goes on just to show there is an evap leak throughout the system.

all cars are like that, i work at autozone and you wouldn't believe how many people dont tighten their gas cap. the reason why it goes of is because its leaking the gas fumes into the atmosphere through the evap system
