Blown clutch, or tranny? read inside
Ive been hearing this clicking noise lately when i engage the clutch from a stop to a go. Also i would get a realy loud knocking noise coming from my engine bay with the clutch engaged. if i disengaged the clutch the sound would go away.
Well yesterday I was driving in third gear and out of no where the car just starts to slow down just like that so i coast the car over to tthe side of the road and the car is still running with my foot off the clutch and in gear. I tuened the car off and engaged the the clutch and started the car again, only when i tried putting it in gear with the clutch engaged it would make this horrendus noisebut if i took my foot of the clutch i could shift through every gear while the car was running with no grinds but obviously the car wouldnt move. I just purchased this Hydro JDM 98 spec itr tranny, and maybe put 100 miles on it. Im almost positive that the throwout bearing and clutch took a **** on me? any other insight from you guys would help. Im dropping the tranny this week. And what clutch would you guys recommend for a car putting down 189whp (its a jdm itr motor)

I'm definately thinking it's a clutch problem as opposed to a tranny problem. Regarding the type of clutch to put in, just about any mild upgrade over stock will do nicely. There are plenty of good discussions on which clutches are better than others.
