Wanna be S2000 owner
Hmm...Id keep your GSR, and save your money for now. A wrecked S2000 will never be the same as a clean titled one, unless somehow it was fixed perfectly. I wouldnt settle for less if your looking for an S2k.
But it isnt going to handle nicely if their is frame damage. Also if you cant even afford a nice used one how the heck can you afford to fix one up? The qualilty parts arent cheap an plentiful like the GSR.
hmm i wouldnt buy any salvage title car. I had a 00 civic si and i trade it in and got 8500 for it. I put 2g's down and my monthly payment is only 350 a month. Im only 21, find a good job or finish school and get a good job and buy a brand new S2. Dont buy no used one.
Btw i have a 05 GPW

You guys in here are all so lucky! I mean I like my GSR but would much rather have a S2000. It is my dream car.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Wow. I don't understand why there are so many threads about buying wrecked/salvaged S2000s unless you just want the drive train. Why would someone want a car that has been thought to be unrepairable.
If the S2000 is your dream car and you drive a GSR why not get a loan for $16000 and buy one. If you can't afford that, you can't afford the out of pocket money it will cost to rebuild an unrepairable car.
Dream cars have this title for a reason.

I just don't think you should take the easy way out when it comes to cars and your safety. Also you may end up with a piece of junk you can't fix and nobody will buy from you. This a useless thread IMO..do what you want..

...how exactly would you call us lucky? Do you think we just happened to stumble on the money in order to buy one, or that we were given them by some random chance? Luck had nothing to do with the purchase of me and my wife's S2000, hard work, time and patience did...we drove pieces of **** when we were in our teens, and then worked our way up through various cars...started with a civic, then had a Civic and 4-runner, and we busted our *** and saved until we could afford to sell my wife's civic, got a nice profit off of it, took the banked cash and went and bought her the car she'd been wanting for years...luck had nothing to do with it, hard work and patience did.
Now your comment about us being as bad as ITR owners...i guess i dont know exactly what an ITR owner said to you that you would associate with something someone said in here.
You cant get something for nothing. Sure you can get a salvaged title S2000, but thats not what your intention was here...you said yourself, you cant afford an S2000 to just go out and buy one, so your thought was, if you could get one, regardless of condition, and buy it for practically nothing then drop a ton of money into it to get it back to street condition, youd have the "car of your dreams"...the idea was never to make some non-streetable project car or anything, you just know that you dont have the cash to buy one at a dealership or privately in good condition, so you'll buy one in **** condition, and hopefully after all is said and done, be a part of the crowd without the money spent.
Heres some advice, take it as you wish...keep your GS-R and be happy with it, your car you have right now is a car that some people out there would KILL for. Be thankful you got it, keep it up and save...get a job where your making enough money that you can afford to own the car that you want, and then get it...this "easy way out" deal that is becoming so common is fine but its a project that i can tell people dont think much on before deciding thats what they want to do. An S2000 is NEVER going to be cheap...(depending on what you consider cheap, i myself consider $15,000-$18,000 for a 2000-2001 very cheap). You cant afford the car, you cant get the car...bottom line.

Not really...and no, not everyone can buy one, unless they have the money or credit history to get them in the door.
As far as this thread being a waste, only one person said that, yet you seem to think thats the general consensus of the board...so perhaps a little less assumption that everyone feels that way on your part is in order.

How is the s2000 not a Honda? This is what always puzzles me about most S2000 owners. I like my S but I don't make it out like it's some damn Ferrari like most do. Regarding the money and credit history deal, if you want the car that bad you would work another job/ get a co-signer.

I never said it was anything more than a honda, that wasnt what i was commenting on, i do personally think to label the car "just a honda" is kind of silly given its obvious engineering pluses, but i dont feel its some exotic car...
My comment was about how anyone can get one...which is not true. Not anyone can get one, this guy cant get one, he doesnt have the money for one, someone could make enough per month to afford one but if they dont get approved for it, they wont get it...so really, not everyone can get one. I was speaking on your down play of the car like its a civic or something, something that you could just go to the dealership, regardless of your situation or income, and just grab one like its nothing. That is not true.
I hope that provides clarity.

yea not everyone can just get one. i was about to buy a 00 couple months ago from a loan me and my mother were splitting. but to be totally honest the S is my dream car but not enought to put me in debt for close to 20k and not counting insurance and future speeding tickets. instead im spendin bout half(9k) for a 00 civic si. when i get a better job ill upgrade to an S.

I have never seen them go for less than 19k</TD></TR></TABLE>
14k-16k would either b a real high mileage 00-01, a salvage S, or somthin wrong w/ it IMO... or maybe they jus have lots of money and want to pay off the rest of their loan... dunno but take it from me insurance sux on this car when ur young, im 19 and i honestly wish i woulda waited like 2-3 more years to get my S, but i was very impatient like urself... i didnt go for salvage or cheap but jus for insurance sake, $380/mo is wayyy too much for a car, i should b spending that on havin fun and ****... i had a GSR and wish i could go bak to NO payments and CHEAP insurance jus for a few more years... TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT
anyway, good luck w/ ur decision... im jus sayin, learn from me

lol...so you want people to give you money now to buy your car? Seriously bro, just enjoy your car, save some money and maybe when you can afford the car in the future, take another look at it, if you have $144 saved for it and your having to ask for $1 from folks...you obviously dont need this car right now.
As far as price...my brother has a black one, 2000 model, 42,000 on the odometer, they'd let it go if you came with $15,000 cash today...they are out there, and from the looks of it, by the time you have enough money for one, they'll be much cheaper.

lol...okie dokie. But you sure did go into a big drawn out explination about how it would work and how its "sad" that you know people arnt generous enough to give up a buck for your cause and that its a big "If", for it all to just be a joke...really, you think i care more than i do. Im just saying, if you cant afford to buy an S2000, you dont need an S2000, owning one isnt the only cost this car has, keeping them up is quite expensive in some aspects, and if your working 2 jobs and you dont have the money for it man, its just out of your reach for now. Its all good, i dont care either way...
Something that i've always felt is a good way to go about things...you shouldnt have to finance "toys". But hey, thats just me...
Good luck to you man, i hope you get your dream car one day.
