Default z6 v y8 head

Searched
Im planning on boosting a d16z6 but I want to research the posibility of putting a y8 head on the z6.

What are the main differences between these two heads? Obviously they have the same displacement...Parts like cams/cam gears will be replaced so that isnt a big issue, but things like sleeve strength and compression will matter a lot to me. (can anyone comfirm that the z6 is 9.2:1 and the y8 being 9.6:1?)

Thanks a bunch

would you swap the intake manifolds as well? i know that the y8 and z6 are different. and i could be missinformed, but i didnt think that heads had sleeves.

good luck with your quest for information.

Anything goes past midnight

-wasnt asking for y8 sleeve strength, but things like integrity of parts and such-

sorry I sounded like an idiot

I say stick with a Y8 block, Z6 head, Y8 intake manifold, Y8 camshaft.

D-series Type R

The y8 will yeild a slightly better cam profile, more compression & less chance for detonation (when at same z6 compression ) due to the quench zone being smaller. The chambers are rectangular shaped like a GSR head. Overall the best combo is the y8 intake mani, z6 head, y8 cam, y8 block. Mainly I say the y8 block because it's always newer (and usually lower miles), since IMO the variances between the blocks is so minor that defects will determine failure, not the difference in design/casting. Save your money though, just stick a y8 mani on your z6 and you'll be much better off. I'd rather spend $100 on stuff that will make a difference.

i've heard horror stories of oiling problems with the y7 and y8 blocks, though, in fact i know a cuople people that have put a6 blocks into their newer civics.
