Default b20z2 vtec... but no vtec?

a friend of mine has a b20z2 block with a b16 head.. in a 92-95 4 door lx
12.1cp pistons
ctr cams
p28ecu
jdm b16 oil pump

ever since we put this motor together vtec has not worked.. we have tried 2 different b16 heads... 2 different vtec sileniod's with pressure sensors.. played with the timing.. and etc.. oil level is good.. changed the oil pump to a newer b16 oil pump.. 30psi at idle and bout 80 right before vtec hits.. then it just climbs.. the ecu is a p28 with the vtec sileniod run to pin number a4. and vtec pressure sensor to d6.. so now what im wondering is why is there still a vtec pressure code?? also has a iacv code and o2 sensor code, it used to have a vtec sileniod code but that went away.. the sileniod clicks and all.. but if you run the car and take it to about the right pressure and put vtec on by a switch it doesnt even show a difference.. so can anyone help us.. we've practically tried everything.. even tried another ecu.. doesnt make a difference. thanks alot guys! need help asap

Did you add the knock-sensor? If not you can always get an ecu to bypass the knock so vtec engages...

we juice the vtec solenoid when the car is running at 5,000 rpms or w/e and vtec wont work...we are bypassing everything and it will not cross over to the vtec lobe. despite the code, vtec should hit once the solenoid see power.

just in case your pm didn;t work ...

did you guys just change the headgasket ? did you just buy the motor that way ? the problem is usually the h23 gasket physically fits but blocks off the oil passage hole that sends oil into the head for vtec. you'd basically need to route oil externally, ala ls/vtec ... tap oil from the oil pressure sensor near the oil filter ont he block and feed it into the back of the head on the passenger side where it has a hex plug.

its a b20vtec with a b20 headgasket and the rings cut out.. before this he had a ls vtec and everything worked fine.. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by drunknbass &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">whats your oil pressure?</TD></TR></TABLE> oil pressure is at 80 before vtec.. and 35 at idle
