Code 22 is VTEC oil pressure switch, it's not a valve. It's near the distributor with a green plug for the wiring.

So is it low on oil? Is that green plug loose? Broken wires? Check for stuff like that.

fwiw, the VTEC solenoid valve is up on top, with a triangle flange where it bolts to the spool valve. That would throw code 21...

Well that mysterious rev limit is gone...i disconnected the battery and now the light is gone and the car is running perfect..maybe it was because i lowered the vtec with the vafc without adding any fuel or something. Everything is fine now.

On the subject of VTEC, where exactly is the VTEC solenoid signal (wire?) on the engine??
thanks

It's going to come back. YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE SWITCH.

here's where the oil pressure switch is suppose to be... im missing mine but this pic should give u a general idea of where it's exactly at. most likely u might be running low on oil and not enough oil pressure going through. either that or u might need a new switch. i bought mine for about 80 bux.

Is it pretty simple to remove and replace the valve? Do you simply unscrew it from the engine block? R there any steps I should take before attempting to remove and inspect/clean the valve? Thanks, Allen Cunningham (Sufferer of code 22)

I had the same thing, i replaced the switch but nothing changed. What ended up being the problem was my vtec wire on the ecu poped out because it was badly connected.

when you disconnected the battery you reseted the computer causing the light to go off...usually it comes back in a few minutes when it's bad...but if it doesn't the connection was probably disturbed somehow...

bringing this back from the dead...after i reset the ecu the CEL goes off for a while. But then it will come back when im doing like 80-90 on the highway in 5th gear. It doesn't come on if i rev it out to 8400 in 1st or 2nd...but if i go fast on the highway then put it in 5th the light will come on....is it safe to say taht the switch is bad? And if it is what could cause that?

wow, this never happens...this is the exact same problem i am having.

The shitty part is that once the engine light comes on while cruising in 5th, even killing the motor and turning it right back on (to get the light to go away) is worthless as it comes right back on. It's crazy, tho, because sometimes i can drive around all day long with no light. But as soon as it's "highway time", *blink*....code 22.

Y'all have any luck findin out what it could be?

my buddy has the same problem....code 22....same causes....normal driving ....its ok but once you hit 70+ on highway ....22 comes on......he can redline it on 1st, 2nd, and third but once it hits certain mph....it comes on and doesnt allow you to pass 6grand rpm.....I gave him my pressure and plug it right up to his....still did the same thing.....where clueless now....maybe its loose wires somewhere....

it's most likely your VAFC wiring. did you use the crimpers or solder it? did you check your connections?

mine would always throw the code when i was in high gear because something would shake the car and thus throw the wire loose for a split second, causing the CEL.

if repalcing x amount of parts isn't working, it's probably a sign that your VAFC did the problem.

Recheck the wiring... make sure your VTM signal is hooked up properly. My instruction manual for my VAFC II did not have the VTM hooked up.... shake down run with code 22. Checked the pinout for the ECU, hooked up the VTM wire and now it works properly.
