tie red and white wires together and stick in the radio fuse. black is ground so just hook to a good ground source. connect the green wire to the wire going to your ecu that tells how many RPM your engine is spinning. i forgot which wire, but search here on honda-tech to find which wire goes to the ecu.yup. thats it.

Here's an easy way for you... You have an autometer tach, calibrate it first to work with 4 cylinder egnines, splice necessary wires.
RPM signal goes to a dead end single wire harness under the hood with a cap on it near the master cylinder, right by the strut tower. Tap there.
The 12v wire, check the underdash fusebox, you should see some terminals there with no fuse, make sure the car is off with the key on off, grab a test light stick in in ANY unused terminal, see if it lights up, great you just found yourself a 12v source, get a spade connector
from autozone or whatever, crimp/solder the end to a wire and stick that to that fuse terminal. Lots of other alternatives out there but I've already typed enough.
Illumination wire/white wire, tap it into the dimmer switch but even easier since you're under the dash already, look for the intrument cluster/light fuse, take it off, wrap the wire at one side of the fuse, stick it back in.
Black wire, any good ground

Here, tap into the following wires from behind your dash...
White (illumination) - red/black wire
Red (power) - black/yellow wire
Green (signal) - blue wire
Black (ground) - any bolt that bolts to metal

im putting this big tach in because i find myself looking down too much when im racing..... i never look at the tach when i'm driving normal, but when im racing im always staring at the redline, with a shift light i will be able to look up and be able to see if some deer or something gets infront of me.
thanks for the help though guys

i tried what you guys said..... when i started the car the tach went fairly slowly to 10,000rpms and has yet to move.

check your manual, some wires are needed to be spliced when using autometer/autogauge wires on a 4 cyl. If you bought it off some guy here who used it on his 4 banger honda then don;t worry about it, play with the shift light settings on the face

OK run the red wire to the fuse box and connect it with the sunroof fuse or any power that turns on with the key switch. Then the white wire for illumination run that to the tail light fuse which will light it up when you turn the lights on. As for the green take out your cluster and turn the car on and right behind the stock tach tap the green wire against the small screws and when the 5" tach needle moves then shut the car down and remove that screw and loop it in then tighten it up. and there you go install the cluster and sport ur new tach.

i guess you guys don't live in VA.... deer are EVERYWHERE!!!!! my friend wrecked his 97 widebody hatch because of a deer...... and he was in a "city" ............deer is a "4-letter-word" around here
thanks for the extra help.... again
im not really interested in a 99 front end. i always thought they looked a little nicer than the 98, but i already have 98spec JDM CTR fenders, lip, grill, and a CF hood, so if i got the 99spec front i would need to spend another good buttload of money getting new ones.
but thanks for the offer

Didn't need the tach, so I just got the shift light, but it doesn't come on when the rpm hits it pill number. Wired it correctly, with the green wire to the dead end blue wire connector in the engine bay and the rest of the wires to where they should go. Is there something I missed or need to do?
