When my car was tuned a couple of weeks ago, the head leaked air pressure into the waterjackets. Yesterday I did this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1261018 and it doesn't leak anymore. Now I'm cramming more air into the cylinders... am I going to need to retune it? When I had the head and IM off, I found that the feed line for my oil block had a bit of a kink... the pressure guage still read 90psi when cold, but I fixed it, SEE HERE, and now the turbo spools way quicker. I was seeing full boost at 4500rpm before, now according to my datalogging I see full boost at 3800rpm. I think it was being starved for oil before.

 

what are your afs between those rpms?

 

i would go retune.

I'm going to call the tuner and see what they say. If I have to pay another $600 to tune it again, I'm not going to be happy.

 

$600 to tune a 200whp car is rediculous. I tune uberdata for $100 and it would run just as well. Hopefully they would only charge you like $50 or something to touch up the tune.

I'm curious, do you have flat rates or do you charge more if it takes longer? Sometimes I feel like i get screwed when I charge a flat rate for uberdata tuning.

I have only been charging flat rates(actually i've only been charging $50 up until now just so i could get my name out around here), but i feel like I get majorly screwed doing this. Espescially when half the cars i tune have something screwed up with them the first time we try tuning and we spend all day diagnosing that problem and don't get any tuning done at all. Then i'll end up having to reschedule another tuning session that i'm not even going to get payed anything extra for

 

Exactly what happens with me. If you break it down hourly its pretty depressing compared to the other car related work i do. Its crazy how people can think their car is all set but it really needs 6 hours of work still...

Why not charge hourly? That's how all the shops do it... $30/hr is a fair price considering what I'm paying for it... as long as you know what you're doing.

 

Welcome to canada we are limited to tuners hell only one in my town that i would let tune my car.

I dunno about tunning it drive it around check ur EGT's.


It only popped on the final 204hp run

 

How do you tune timing? I men afr take very little time to tune

yea, but half of the cars i tune are my friend's cars and they are fairly cheap so i'm sure they wouldn't pay that much

 

seriously, tuning my car does not take me long. Load up boosted basemap, drive around and set afr. Takes like 10min :/

What else do you do, you sit there and dick timing out till power?

THe only issue i ran into were 1000cc injectors and getting rid of that godawful tip in lean out, but thanks to some null time work i was able to get ehm to work extermely well at low duty cycle.
