Default Hondata injector issues

I looked through Hondata's site, but it does not specify on this topic. I have an OBD I ECU (1993 Civic Si). On the Hondata site they show a resistor box having to be spliced into ECU wires and injector wires to make the system a saturated one. Is that only for certain ECU's or cars?? It looked pretty involved, and messy.

Here's what I'm talking about. Would I have to do this on my car?

If you want to use Peak & Hold injectors, you will need to wire in a resistor box.

If you want to use saturated injectors, do nothing.

Does it matter? Hondata says to use RC440's. Is it up to you whether to run peak-hold or saturated? I can't imagine anyone going through all the work of soldering all those wires and splicing if they didn't have to.

the thing is finding saturated injectors over 440cc's. that and the fact that you can use dsm injectors that are 450's for a very small fraction of the cost of rc injectors makes it worth while to get that resistor box wired in.

Ok, "all that soldering" takes 2 hours. After you do that, you can use up to 850's by just swapping the injectors... try finding anything above 550cc Saturated. A.) They will cost more than P/H 750's and b.) you're still in the same boat... I dont think anyone makes >550cc Sat. injectors. The resistor box is NOT that hard to do. EV.

2 hours to solder like 10 wires? More like 20 mins.

would it be simpler to wire in a resistor into each injector? only 4 wires to cut and 8 points to solder, if i understand it right...

Saturated is more expensive? Not according to RC- http://www.rceng.com/prices.htm
If you are going with the RC injectors, it will be cheaper (on the larger sizes) and easier (no resistor box) to stay saturated.

Those are all custom injectors... and saturated injectors do not perform too well under serious duty because they take longer to open and have less strength.

yeah except you'll need resistors that can handle the power going through 'em. You're better off getting the resistor box.

my friend just gave me his chopped up wiring harness from his 1st gen b16. so all i gotta get is a resistor box. its gonna make wiring in the rc 550's so much easier.

someone posted this awhile ago and i don't know where to find it: which honda's came with peak-and-hold injectors? (in other words...where can i gwt an old resistor box ).....or what other resistor boxes would work with my setup (96 GSR, RC 550's, IntegraLink ECU) ?

thanks,
downpipe

GM and Ford all use saturated bosch injectors..and they are cheap. They clip into the factory connectors by just slicing off one tab on the injector. I am running 50 lbs (550cc) bosch injectors right now. I also had to shave a little of the plastic off the top of the injector for it to fit into the rail and I used washers between the rail and the intake manifold to space it since the injectors are slightly longer than stock. But after that they fit in perfectly. No modification to the bottom bushing was required. These were a lot cheaper than anything else I've seen around and they don't require a resistor box or different clips.
