Default NASA-VA autocross on Sunday

So who's going? The event is full and the weather should be OK (unless it rains...)

I'll be running in the first heat in my GTS - got to try and beat the Celica GT's out there, maybe it will be an open course where I can actually get to the part of the power band where the torque is...

There's an RSX-S registered in the 4th heat. Hopefully I can beat it too (got to put my money where my mouth is).

Oh - if the course designer is reading this, how about a tight start where the WRX's can't get an automatic 0.2 to 0.4 second head start within the first 60 feet...

Damn, why did Toyota cheap out and not put a LSD on this car!

I'll be there in the first heat also. I'll be trying to get a little closer to you GTS guys then last time. I second the tight start bit as well. I also need to open a can of whoop *** on old Junior Johnson. He talks a bunch of nonsense most of the time, and needs to be taught a lesson! J/K If I out pax him, maybe he will go back to driving a 4x4.

I'll be there, kicking some serious Celica tushie.

For those who may be in town early and want to hang out, we've got a room reserved at Legends Microbrewy in Richmond (at 7th and Perry). The reservation is at 7PM, under "Evolution School." Stop on by!

Oh, and Scott? I don't think you're gonna get your wish for course design.... something about a Subie driver being the course designer, you know?

Ooooh, good call! Everybody, go to this place, it kicks ***. Large pub atmosphere, good affordable food, fantastic microbrews (particularly the Brown Ale and the Chocolate Porter). I'm *so* lucky to only live 3 miles from Legend.

I'll be there with the Madison Motorsport crew... hopefully the RX7 will break while i'm autocrossing, and not at VIR, so i can sort out any issues...

And afterwards we may be playing Gran Turismo 3 back at the Holiday Inn Express.

"Wow, you just ran under four minutes on the Complex String in a stock Vitz! Have you played before?"

"No, but I am playing at a Holiday Inn Express."

None of you should delude yourselves into thinking you're gonna win the GT3 Tournament. We (MMsports) are setting up the brackets and the rules, we are bringing at least one of the PS2's, and Channing is going to win (if not we have a half dozen other hopefuls). MM ownz joo!

As for the autoX, we'll try not to look too stupid...but on the bright side we have a few people who are coming back for a second helping after their first autocross at JMU that you guys put on. Thanks again

If I were any of you guys, I wouldn't take the MMsports crew lightly in a GT3 tournament. Remember, they're college kids, and kids stuck in dorm rooms tend to develop mAd sKiLlz behind the video game controller

BTW, Scott... I'm agreeing with Karen, good luck on finding a 2.5RS driver who DOESN'T want to wind it out to about 6000rpm and dump the clutch. Though at least some of us WRX guys don't like the smell of roasting clutch as much as those normally-aspirated folk.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if there's a tight section that keeps you off the big-cam either.

Hahah not me, since Im not too fond of periodic tranny replacement, I never launch hard and always end up bogging.
Anyway its only my 2nd AutoX so no bragging "I beat a WRX"

Dont count on it!

What tires are yall running on the RSX? I've never raced against either of you, but am aware of who is driving (something about the VA state champ...)

I was planning on bring my PS2 console and GT3 as well. How many units can be linked together anyhow? I don't have a link cable though. I do have all the video adapters (component, RCA, S-Video, coax/Rf).

Do I need to bring the Logitech Driving Force wheel and pedals too? It's kind of bulky, but fun...

Don't worry about George -- he only drives well in other people's cars. Now if he hops in Scott E's WRX ....

Ah, you need to quit wussing it then, Scoobies love it...Tack it and smack it...that is my motto.

Wuss indeed! You 2.5 liter guys can get away with clutch dumps. I've tried them up to 5500rpm and got tired of having the car bog ON THE STOCK TIRES. The first time I tried a slip, I managed to shoot the car off the line in such spectacular fashion that I was about 10 feet past my turn in point for the 1st turn before I could figure out what was happening. My roommate witnessed this and had a fit laughing at me as he watched my hands scrabble AFTER the turn to get back on course. Oh well, I'll figure out the rest of the launch technique at the Pro... the rest of the course seems to be going fairly well at the moment.
