tried seraching explain to me "bore" and why is it nesscary to?
hey guys
just wanted to find out , might be shopping for pistons i remember discussing it during school but that was alonnnnng time ago.
standard bore is what for a d16z6? when i get a piston why would i want to get a .20 bore why not get a piston with a stock bore? is it cuase u gotta bore out the cylinder for the new piston? so now ur cylinder wont be in stock "specs" so u have to get a little bit bigger bore piston?

You cylinder as is may be out of round and have some taper. Rings don't seal well when the cylinder is out of round.
Properly boring the cylinder will make the cylinder perfectly round and straight. Then it should be finished honed to size to prep the cylinder surface for the rings.
Rottler or Kwik-way are common boring machines used in boring cylinders.
After that your cylinders honed they need to be washed with hot soapy water 3 times and then wiped down with ATF, acetone or lacquer thinner soaked rag till you see no residue. Only then you can think about installing the pistons.
