There is one huge problem that s2k transmissions have and that is

THE DRIVER

Ive heard of a few 00-01's that have had problems with the car popping out of 5th. My g/f had hers replaced at about 50k with the problem. I drove one that had this problem to.

The other problem I heard with the car is the 2nd gear grind, this happens to all years. I dont think anyone has found a problem with the trans for this, but it seems to happen to everyone once in a while.

Yes, I am experiencing a couple fo problems with my '01 that actually have TSB's.

4th gear popping out of gear - very intermittently

Buzzing on deceleration

Neither are that big of a deal to me, but can be annoying.

2nd gear grind seems to be on all yrs and honda has yet to figure out why.

they are a couple TSB's out on other things though. check out http://www.s2ki.com for the tsb list

I have been at a battle with honda over this last week. They do not want to cover this under my honda certified warranty which is bumper to bumper.

The girl Is aware and agrees with me but she says I would have to call american honda and get a "goodwill consideration"

The TSB from what I have printed came from mitchell ondemand at work, but they say its the clutch disc which is causeing the problem on deceleration. But since the clutch is considered a wearable part it is not covered.

Well I think It should be covered, the clutch is indeed a wearable part, however , my clutch is not worn out and pulls damn good, But its a design flaw that is the culprit for my problem.

I also have heard of the 2nd gear popout, and they had to replace one at work once for that.

I am not experienceing this myself, I am getting a slight 3rd gear Upshift grind. Which is out of the normal Complaints.

She told me that is covered, once they look at it and deside If i but a good clutch or something with more bite she can have them put it in for me while the trans is out.

I heard there was a recall on some of the '00 transmissions. One mechanic told me to check with honda.

I am elated I found all of you who have issues with your transmissions. I have a 2001 S2000 and have been complaining before my 36k warranty ran out...unfortunately I am at 45k and Honda has consistently refused to acknowledge any problem. My mechanic also insists there is an issue.

If anyone can help me with obtaining TSB's on transmission issues - I will fight this battle !! My mechanic told me Honda should be liable to repair this as this is an ongoing problem. Any help is appreciated!!!

Also beware of a clutch problem - forgive me because I am not technical - but there is a part of the clutch that is supposed to be either made of non-corrosive material or lubricated when manufactured and it was neither. I believe my mechanic said it was the spline ..or something like that which rusted. Sorry!! It was only discovered when he pulled the clutch to check the transmission (out of warranty of course). I am still trying to tackle with American Honda on reimbursement of replacing my whole clutch!! It should have lasted much longer!!!
(and no it's not The Driver!!!)

Same here, I thought it was me at first, but I know the clutch was on the floor for sure. I have an '01 with only 13k miles on it. 1st to sec. grind and buzzing on deceleration are the only problems I have experienced. I plan on babying it so I don't have to replace it.
