Default boosted d16z6 advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!not b18 b16 h22 d16y8 gsr civic jdm rota

hey guys i hear lots of good things about turbo sohc. i hear there capapble of runign mid 12s with 12lbs of boost on stock internals. well im thinkng bout fully builidng my z6 with sleeving the block, port and polish the head, and replacing the valvetrain and rods and pistons. i plan on runing 8-10lbs of boost daily and 15-18lb at the track

I need this car to be reliable. I hear turbo sohc gives ppl headaches. is it worth it to invest this much money in a sohc and how reliable is it.

I have built alot of sohc set-ups and have had nothing but awesome reults. I know alot of people do not like them, but I do. I have built a couple of street hatcbacks that have ran 11.2 - 11.3. Good luck on your decision.
Here is a slip I found of a sohc I did back in Oct. of 2000'.

It is all in the turbo and the tuning really. How much power are you wanting to make ? Believe it or not that 11.72 run was with only 275 hp . What car is it going in ?

How about you get banned for listing a bunch of pointless keywords in your topic title.

u should have seen when we started.
we took it to 5k first and as we tuned, we took it to 6, then 7k
the first time it hit 7k, i was into 13.5 in air fuels, and that engine loved it, it made 195ft-lbs

i had to richen a bit and it lost 10 ft-lbs
and it likes timing

Dude, wtf, do you think this is ebay?

Searching will yield plenty of info re: this topic.

But if you just want opinion, then here it is: Don't waste your time sleeving a D series motor. At that point you may as well get a B, end of story.

However, I am a big proponent of the D, and think they can make more power than many ppl even are shooting for. I have seen 400+hp D's with just rods and pistons and stock heads. I have seen 12.0 sec. non-vtec D15's with just rods and pistons.

You can make plenty of power and be plenty fast for a daily driven street car with a D if you'll do your homework, build it right, and K I S S.

you know what,
I think our boosted d engines in general love a lean/advanced tune
my jrsc is like that too, I added 3deg mechanical timing back in and immediately felt a big difference, not only in pull but throttle response as well.

I think it's the low compression(9:1 or 9:3)
because if you read up about vitara piston setups, they need to run crazy ammounts of timing to make power.

anyhoo,
nice graph.
you've got beefier rods in your block right?

You know, I could use a little bit of this information myself. D16Z6 with 9:1 Wiseco's, Eagle Rods, Block Guard, Posted on 4 sides, fully balanced rotating assembly, port and polished head, Ferrea Valves, Crower Springs, and possibly a turbo cam if needed. Gonne be running Hondata S200B tuned by Cortney if he has time. The manifold is a LoveFab, with a SC61 i belive is the turbo.

I have a few questions on the fuel mods that should be done (CORRECTLY) no AEM FRP, i want real usable parts. Sard Fuel Pressure Riser? Which Walbro pump is the best? Intake Manifold? Wastegate is the best? Few questions along those lines. Would i be better off just having the block sleeved?

Thanks

Shaughn
