Not that i heard of haha. I guess the sound comes mostly from the motor, so to make it quiet is to have a good running motor that has been well kept and lubricated.

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw the post. it probably would work. put some on the underside of the hood and as much of the bay as possible and see if there is a difference. if you can, find someone (cop) who has a decibal rater and see if it reads. i dunno if it will. check the difference with and without dynamat. again, no clue if that will work. but eh wth. lol

i'm thinking dynamat would act as an insulator and raise the bay temp quite a bit

two questions. what intake are you running and is the hood stock? if your running cold air, it usually keeps pretty quite if it is well tucked behind the bumber and mudgaurd. Most of the engine noise will also come from the intake when the throttle opens up. as for sound dampener... it will increase both weight and engine temperature but probably is not significant enough to hurt the engine i dont think.

i have b18c so my intake is a whale ***** right now. i want the same sound like my stock cx before. it so much louder now that you cant play it off as stock. hehe

im thinking if i can put dynamat under the hood and under the fender then it should keep the noise down like stock.

keep the car stock or get an loud exhaust so your ear are more focus on the rear instead of the engine.

well right now i have a stock 94 dx with a cracked bumper. the outside is clean as in body panels but i dont clean it or fix the broken bumper. it has a b18c stock with whale *****. i have 2.5 piping going to the stock cx muffler but there is an e-cutout before the muffler. since im using the stock muffler, its not so loud in the back but all the noise is coming from the engine bay. this gets attention because people get suspicious that i have a swap.

im thinking about putting dynamat under the hood and fenders if that will help lower the noise down.

you should just slap HUGE AEM stickers on your car and everyone might think "oh that ricer only has an intake."

No Offense but you dropped an engine in your car that you can actually HEAR Vtec with an intake. If your concerned about noise, lose the "whales *****" and put a factory style intake on the car. I wouldn't recommend Dynomat under the hood because the $hit is heavy, it will retain the heat under the hood, and not too mention its made out of a rubbery/tarlike material that will probably melt and make for it impossible to remove. The "ecutout don't help either...
Boils down to what you really want more..

dynamat is not that heavy. well the underhood kind isnt. its only like 1/2 lbs per sq. ft. which is not really much. sure the e-cutout will help. itll only be opened when ill be hitting vtec and closed during city driving.

i know its loud with vtec but i want it to cover the noise during cruising.

thats what im looking at right now.
