Default Is it bad to run the wb o2 sensor in the downpipe for tuning? o2 sensor questions

Where do you guys run your o2 sensors? Right now im open down pipe. Could I put it in there to tune or will it get too lean? I'm running uberdata. Could I remove my stock o2 sensor from the bung and throw in the wb o2 sensor? I heard the stock o2 sensor isn't read with uberdata is this true?

where else would you put it? The stock 02 sensor is worthless anways, its only good for part throttle cruising in vacuum at best.

im not sure if uberdata reads it or not, but you will get a CEL. i wouldn't worry about the CEL though. my o2 has been disconnected for ab out 3 months, and i have had no problems.

you can dissable the o2 sensor heater in uberdata and run in open loop. you wont get any check engine light but you still need some kind of widband o2 sensor to properly tune your setup.

you dont need to have it in the downpipe but i think you need to keep it plugged in. just go to the misc tab on uberdata and disable o2 heater. someone correct me if im wrong but keeping it in open loop will cause issues with the car tryng to adjust AFR itself while your trying to tune. thats what we did in my friends B16 turbo running uberdata and everything worked fine.

When you mean wideband o2. You mean the dyno shop??
IM having Redzone dyno my gsr. THey should have wideband o2 dyno. Is it safe if i run my p28 chipped ecu with the the 02 disabled???It is program on ecu for O2 to be disabled. By the way i will be running a 18 greddy kit on my 2000 gsr and will use my p28 chipped ecu with a basemap on my gsr for about a week till i hit the dyno. The basemap is program for my mods.

hes talking about an in car wideband like an innovate LM-1 or zeitronix. the dynos wide band just has a sniffer that they stick in your tail pipe.

yup that's it's a tech edge. Hopefully this thing will do alright. so I just need to disable it in uberdata? and then stick in my wideband o2 sensor?

yes i believe if you dont disable it it will run open loop and the ecu will interfere with your tuning by trying to make the car run a 14.7 AFR. thats what i read on the uberdata forums anyways.

check with the maker of the wb on how far is accurate/safe to put the wb o2. For example plx 300 instructs to put it 24' away.

also, with the current version even though you disable the o2 it still likes to see that the o2 is still plugged in otherwise you will get an occasional CEL, it won't effect anything its just annoying.

i personally just disable my o2 for good, just tune part throttle out real good.

Run it closed loop.

will running open downpipe effect the a/f's that hte wideband see's? like having the o2 sensor within 5-6 inches from the downpipe allow any fresh air in and make it read leaner than it is?
