Weird Shift Linkage problem pics for help, searched, this one is weird.
I've had issues with linkages before where basically the linkage was bent so it wouldnt engage into certain gears properly or just wouldnt go but since you guys cut the linkage I would just say thats where the screw up is. Hope that helps....

Look again at the pictures. The linkage isn't bent it's where it comes out of the tranny that is the problem. If you bent something as much as that it would have broken.

does the tranny still go through all the gears? all b-series shift linkages are the same the bents are a little different but they all bolt up the same and function the same
Well I have to finish rewelding it to tell you if all the gears work. I know that the forward gears work but I haven't been able to find reverse by moving the shift linkage.
Looks to me like that tranny was disassembled and not reassembled correctly. I'm betting the piece that moves the shift forks around is not in it's proper groove in that shaft. Sorry, forgot the proper names for those pieces.
