Car cuts off, please help.
ok, my accord, its a 95 coupe...the car has been acting funny, and i dont know why. When i drive the car a little its fine, then i get home and pull it in the driveway and it cuts out on its own. SO i try to restart it and nothing, it wont turn over. SO i leave the car til the next day.
Car turned on straight away, dont know why. Let it sit in the driveway for some time and let it idle, cut out on its own after some time and didnt want to turn back on. It keeps doing this. The distributor, rotor and cap are about 1.5 years old. SO i dont think its that. Can anyone throw me some ideas? Thanks guys.

ok check your fuses, the ones under the hood, and the ones by the foot rest inside the car. Then, from there, i suggest you pull out one of the spark plug boots, put the bare end of a screwdriver in it and make sure it makes contact inside the boot, then touch the bare metal to the head of the motor and have someone crank it up, if you get spark you are good.
If thats not the problem, then you need to source the lack of spark, to either your distributor, the cap, rotor, or even the ignition coil. Oh, give the plugs a once over also, just in case. I would also suggest checking the main relay behind the fuse box by the foot rest for cracks in the solder.
Lets see, anything else i can think of while im visualizing the engine...oh, check the negative grounds on the car, you never know with those. May the spark be with you!

Kind of sounds like a main relay...at least it is a starting point.
I would also check to ensure you're getting spark (wires, plugs, dizzy etc).

in my experiene the only cars that i have come across that actually died on the customer while driving & started back up after a while was the ignition switch, there is a honda service bulletin on that also

Is the bulletin for the 94-95 accords?

I checked for spark, using the screwdriver method and nothing really, it was odd. I am led to believe that the ignition coil is the problem. It just seems to not be shooting any spark, i dont know why. The distributor is new, so is the cap and rotor. I think its time to change out the coil perhaps.

An ignition coil doesn't usually cause an intermitent problem. Did the new distributor come with an igniter? Does the blk/yel wire at the distributor have battery voltage when it's acting up?

sounds to me you got an issue with coil or igniter and by the way CHIOV coil do act up intermittently trust me have seen dozens do that ,,,anyho also chk that all the wires going to ignitor are tight ..
checked the wires and those are just fine, even checked the engine wiring harness. It seems that all roads lead to the coil, everything else seems to be in good working order. I guess im gonna have to go to autozone and spend the 70 bucks for a new coil. As long as it takes care of the problem i guess its good! Its only 2 12mm bolts and a matter of 2 plugs.
I havent checked the main relay either but from what ive been told, that problem persisted with the 4th generations and didnt really create an issue with the 5th generation. If anyone thinks otherwise i can hold off on the ignition coil purchase for a few more days.
Thanks guys, i will keep you posted, keep the ideas coming. It is highly appreciated. I would love to get to the bottom of this dilemma.

I remember with my coil I pulled it and tested it and it was just out of the guidelines of a 'good' coil. After I replaced it everything worked fine. I think the electronics in the coil are pretty sensitive and if you replace it and that doesn't fix your problem just return that bad boy and you're not out the money
.
I think with the MR it was a problem in the 4th gens but still gives others with 5th gens some problems...I mean its worth a look

I know, i've seen a few too,it not the first thing i'm going to expect. That's why I said usually they dont. More often than not it's the igniter when they're intermitent.
