*searched* transmission questions
I've been reading today through the archives and haven't gotten a good answer and the posts were from 2003 so things may have changed. I'm looking to change tranny fluid along with a few other things. From what I have read the GM syncromesh is the stuff to use but to use the one with the friction modifier. My question is does this still stand to be one of the best out there? Any problems down the road with it? More wear on the syncros? Also for a complete drain and refill how much do I need to get? TIA
Oh and this is a daily driver that has YET to see any track time but will in the near future.

A lot of people liked the Syncromesh friction modified. It has a reputation for getting rid of grinds.
There was a long running debate, but the concensus was stock Honda MTF for street, and Syncromesh or other for track. Frequent change intervals for all tranny fluids were recommended for track/hard driving. (The hard tracker's were saying change every couple of track days, and lots of us go no more than 5K hard street driving between changes, HMTF or GMSM).
It runs about $13 a quart + ship, and you need 2.5 quarts or so.
There has been no good experience posted about the long term effects. People have stated and speculated it might accelerate wear, relative to HMTF.
I have 3 extra quarts brand new that I won't need for a while, and want to sell. LMK.

my father is a mechanic so I can get it at discount but was mainly wondering were there any bad long term effects from it. If not GMSM what would you recommend other than MTF? Also what is different in MTF than using regular motor oil? Also what is the current part number does anyone know?
