What car is this? (@ Mont Tremblant)

Mont Tremblant in Quebec
The driver gets it a bit crossed near the end on a left-hander.
-forward opening hood
-looks like an EVO hood
-straight cut gearbox/loud rear end noise
-no apparent turbo lag

Sounds like more than 4 cylinders. Smoother. Possibly a 6? If it is a straight 6, by vote would be for a Skyline, but if it is a V, then a Supra with a custom hood? Just guessing, but what an awesome clip!

It surely sounds supercharged to me.
And it's a small car... very light... it's way too twitchy to have a lot of mass... I'm thinking maybe a Lotus?
Lotus?
Porsche?
Supra?
..um...haven't yall ever heard what a racing 6cylinder BMW sounds like!...well now you have....
P.S. - Don't yall ever crank up stereo system when the BMW racing commercials run on Speedvision (now Speed Channel in a few days...
) and adjust the bass and treble levels to listen to it with headphones on...
...yes, I'm weird...lol

personally it sounds like it's got some sort of FI. Mercede's hoods aren't that square, i think It's closer to a BMW then mercedes and mercedes i thought had V8's not v6's...at least that's what I've seen.

BMW doesn't sell the cars - you buy an M3 and prepare it to race (strip it out, put in a straight-cut racing transmission, etc....) You could probably buy a used one for $50,000 - $100,000 or so...
P.S. The six-cylinder engine in both BMW's and Porsche's are inline. The inline 6 engines have a nice distinctive sound to them....and there is a difference in sound between a Porsche I6 and a BMW I6.

If the car is not a racing BMW 3 series, then I have no idea why it sounds and looks (stock looking BMW racing hood - call the M3 hood funky if you like...) exactly like a racing 3 series BMW....

BTW, Porsche engines are NOT inline. They're flat 6s.
A flat six for Porsche, yeah... that is what I meant to say
After all, how the heck could you cram an I6 in the back of a Porsche...duhhhh!
...Well I probably should have said the were non- V configuration - man all this engine stuff is confusing...
There are I, flat, V, W, and rotary configurations...any other configurations I left-out?
urbanlegend21...please post the reply to the email whenever you get it, that way I will have proof that it is indeed an M3....
Now,as to whether it's a BMW GT3 or GTR......lol

Sounds like a normally aspirated Japanese 4 banger to me. I think German 4s and any I6 sound a bit meaner. My guess is a silly fast MR2 Spyder, but I suck. I also thought I heard hints of a sequential transmission, but I can't hear it too well here at work.
