***Will big cams affect valve to piston clearance?***
Well I think i've decided to get some Rocket M22 cams for my GSR. The plan is to get the package with cams, valvepsrings, retainers, custom chip and spark plugs. Now everything should be cool but after doing some thinking, I was wondering with that big of a cam if I would have clearance problems with the valve and pistons? I might just go ahead and get some flat face valves to get that extra bit of compression. Does anyone see a problem with this? I know people run them ok, I just think a lot sometimes, lol. Thanks in advance
as always, if you're getting bigger cams than stock, the clearance between the piston and valve at max lift of the cam will decrease.
Its always best to clay your motor when swaping cams to check the clearance.
I've had the M22's in a LS/vtec with OEM p30 pistons and would get contact if the gears were advanced more than +/-2
I also have M22's in a 2.0L ITR with 12.5cp pistons and there would be contact if i went anymore than +/- 3 on the cam gears

chase what kinda question is that beanhead? haha jpwy.......... but yea if you put bigger cams of course you will have the valves closer to the pistons bc the valves are opening up farther!!
but like ^^^^ said if you get them jokers make sure to clay them to make sure your clearance is ok!!
there is an article on c-speed i believe that tells how to clay if you dont know what it is

Yeah yeah, I know the clearance will decrease but I was wondering if anyone has had any problems or if it would be a major problem. But, I didn't think about the cam gear settings. I guess if I was to put them in i'd prob need to start off with the cam gears set to 0. Thanks for the replies and shut up Chris,
