What size are the cylinder head nuts?
Does anyboy know what size the cylinder head nuts are for a D16Y8? I have to buy a 12 point socket in the morning for them and I'm not sure the size. Will I need to have a deep socket?

Yes, but I need to know the size of the nuts that thread on to the studs to hold the cylinder head to the block. I got my ARP stud kit today and the nuts that came with it were not 14mm... I think they might be 12mm but I'm not sure. And they're 12 point too.

...Here's a crazy idea: take the nut with you to the store and buy the one that fits, lol.
Come on, Cyclone, you're smarter than that

I should know this seeing as i just did it. I think mine was 13mm.
I dont remember all i remember is that i didnt have a deep 12point and all my autozone (local place that was open at the time) had was a full kit of them, so i grabbed that.

I was going to bring the ARP's with me to work tonight but I had to rush out and forgot. I just thought I'd post to see if anyone would know so I didn't have to go all the way back home in the morning to get them. I wanted to go straight to the store after work and pick up the socket... I have everything else I need to do the headgasket in the morning.

Here's ANOTHER crazy idea, email ARP and ask what size are the nuts included in the head stud kit.
Bingo.

First off, I highly doubt ARP is open and is going to reply to my emails at 4am... second... what I wanted to know was the size of the nuts on the engine, not the ARP's. All this thread has brought me is sarcastic ******* comments
which don't help very much.

You see? This is what YOU said. With this statement, it seems you want to buy a socket that fits the ARP nuts, not the OEM ones.

Yes, but I don't know if the ARP nuts are the same size as the stock ones either, that's why I asked. If they are... I can just bring them to the store after work and match them up... but now I'm going to have to drive all the way home to get them because nobody even knows the size...
I just bought a set. For anyone who's interested, the ARP nuts are 12mm... not sure about the stock bolts yet but we'll see. I'll post the information so at least when this thread comes up on searches it won't be completly useless like it has been so far...

Calm down, Nancy, no one was being a dick to you
. Your original question was terribly worded to the point that I couldn't figure out whether you wanted OEM head bolt specs or ARP head stud/nut specs and yet, after we gave you our best advice as to what you should do, you get upset.
Nobody's making fun of you, nobody's mocking you. My honest advice is get some tools if you're going to work on your car so this doesn't become such a tender issue in the future.
