broke a wire under the hood
I was putting the battery back into my friend's 98 lude and the weight of the battery broke a white wire that was connected to the bottom of the black **** thing in the pic. It was like a little black golf tee thing. Anyone know what the white wire is for?
Not sure if this is the cause but his car now has the trunk light indicator on in his dash but his trunk is already closed. Also his car is limited at 6500 rpm. Could have been because he was in neutral/park or the car wasn't warmed up yet tho.

no wire should not be going to that rubber hood stop. Tell him not to get on the car unless its at FULL OPERATING TEMP. getting on the car when its cold will cause it to rev only to 6ish.oil doesnt lubricate so well when its friggin cold.
Yeah he has an alarm. We didn't check to see if the wire was related to his alarm before we decided to grounded the wire to the wall of the engine bay. Just wondering if this wire is related to his opened trunk indicator light in his dash or anything important at all.
Probably was the alarm wire then since nothing should be connected to that stub. Just scared that I might have broke his car or something. Alright, I'll check today to see if his car can rev past 6500 rpms. Thanks yall...
like i said its probably for his alarm. sets the alarm off if you open the hood or trunk. Someone could have cut a corner and put the trunk trigger and hood trigger on the same line without isolating it, which would make your trunk light come on with the hood open. Unground that wire and your trunk light should go off.
