Default poor mans type r-ive searched??

ok ive read almost every post about the poor mans type r. I want to know what ecu can you use on a basic poor mans type r setup. Here is the setup

gsr block-stock pistons
b16 head stock
OEM head gasket
Skunk 2 intake manifold

will running a 00si ecu make it run good. im looking for it to just run good and not cause a big problem until i can get new pistons and obd1 ecu and get it chipped and tuned

yeah pretty sure the 00 ecu, wont plug into the 98 car harness.
p28's are cheap, so are conversion harness'

he might be talking about adding vtec wires to the ls car side harness(splices)
