Dizzy probelm I think
the tach started jumping around today sometimes...
considering i swaped to a sir cluster i thought maybe that was the problem....Nope..
Driving i noticed the car start to kinda lose power when the tach was jumping..
then all of a sudden car died on the highway and tach just went to 0...
thank god I have free towing lolz...
NO spark..
rotor is turning...
smell some smoke from distributor and... there white stuff all over inside of it... like the sparks been jumping...
Ive heard it could be the ignitor...
i have an 91 crx si distributor I can use the ignitor off that ive heard

I'm 99% sure it's igniter.
And you can swap any OBD-0 igniter in for it (not sure about B-series however)
Change the igniter STAT......and update the thread when you figured it out for sure

Well we're pretty sure the problem is in the distributor, with it smoking and all. I assume it's tightened down well? Plug wires and connections all secure?
I've had a bearing seize in the distributor.....well not seize but stick really bad. It got so hot it melted the rotor and burnt the coil up. Maybe you're just suffering from a bad dizzy. At this point, if I were you, I'd pony up the cash for a new one if you can't wait to find a used one locally.
And look on the bright side........any money you spend troubleshooting is like free parts because some jackass "professional" would charge you more than that just in labor
Actually I guess the best advice would be to follow the service manual's diagnostic check of the ignition system, using an ohmmeter. Personally I hate doing that and I'd rather just buy the most likely culprit parts

ok i replaced the cap and rotor now and it seems to be fine but i failed emmissions on CO .. i passed the practice test with .42 out of an allowed .44 but then actual test failed with 1.60
