Default 6000k HID Group Buy going on

I know this is yet another HID thread, but I had a couple of questions. This is in the ITR forum because it's kinda directed at Mike.

1) Is this kit the Philips 6000k kit that everyone has been recommending? I know there is some kinda Philips Ultinon kit and I didn't know if these are the same.

2) How's the price? $470 shipped. I think IPS is going to have a groupbuy pretty soon, and I didn't know if it would be cheaper than that. I would much rather support a H-T sponsor than some other company, but I'm not sure if Mike's gonna hold a groupbuy and how much it would be.

Thanks guys.

Got my CAI from there. Excellent service. It's like ebay though, it all depends on the person you buy from.

Looks like this is the person's first group buy to be a vendor in.

Mike from http://www.IPSRacing.com is going to host a GB himself on those Phillips 6000 HIDs. I'll wait for him, because of the great customer service.

Which is what I would like to do, but no one seems to know when a H-T member is going to hold one, and if they do, how much the kit will run.

ITRs need a 9006 kit for the low beam, right?
hm.. what about the HighBeam light.. what bulb will replace the stockers ?
(I suppose unless you are made of $$ you won't convert your hi-beam to HID)..

Correct. The low beams are 9006. You also need a D2S bulb for the HIDs. The high beams are 9005.

I went through http://www.visualdynamics.ca
for mine. Trevor is a good guy to work with.
My friend and I got them in at a good time.
Instructions were detailed and worked well.
True plug and play
He had them in stock and I took it away for $535 with shipping (these are 4300 Phillips ballast and Xenon Bulbs)
Installed them last night and works better than stock
My fogs still work

That seems to be a little high since this groupbuy is $470 for the 6000k. Is there someting that I'm missing?

i didn't buy from a "group buy" although Trevor has had group buys in the past, the normal cost was about $535 with shipping. if you get it insured, another $25 from UPS since they are from Canada (duty tax). Just so you know. I bought mine at regular price. You guys would get at the group buy price since the quantity is larger.

I don't know too much about the 6k Phillips Kits but better make sure they are both Phillips ballasts and bulbs

-Aoib0t, who doesn't know about the 6k kits.

Just to let you guys know I called and talked with Billy at Rex motorsports on the availabity on the PHILLIPS 6000k and he said they wont have anymore of this kit until march 5th and becareful not to buy some offbrand bulb along with the PHILLIPS ballast this was something he was trying to sell me and he knew that I was initally interested in the PHILLIPS 6000k

From what I was told they carry 3 different type of 6000k units so becareful and make sure you specifically ask for the one you want and not some offbrand bulb that is "made in Germany" the name of the bulb from what i could understand was something along the likes of "armstrong"

Make sure you get the right one

I've been corresponding w/ Trevor, and while I'm not ready to buy yet, He has been very honest with me, esp. regarding issues I've been reading about on the Philips Lighting Forum, from the other major sellers (SUVlights, Autolights, HID4LESS).

I really don't like their attitudes and Trevor has none of that. He also warrants his stuff for 5 yrs on ballasts and 1 year on bulbs, all of which is German made, and not second-line stuff made for Philips Taiwan unit, which is why many are getting Philips stuff so cheaply. Same goes for Osram parts.

And how is THIS for service? Trevor even emailed me back asking how the install went TWICE. I told him i didn't install it yet and then a week later, he asked me again. I told him I finally installed it and there were no problems whatsoever (except I have a GSR and don't have as many areas to mount them but the turned out great)

-Aoib0t, who is happy with his 4300's

How did you mount them, from a fellow GSR owner wishing to do the same.

Thanks for the pictures.

I feel leary of putting the right ballast on the ABS unit b/c of vibration when it activates and EM interference from the ballast.

I think I'll try to find another spot for the right unit.

Thanks!

Hmm.. so is Mike going to startup a group buy on some 6000k HIDs? If so, I might be interested.

I've been looking for a trustworthy guy to get these from.

not soon most likely, he said he'll have a group buy in january then a few weeks ago he said he'll post info about it, but none of that ever happened. So your best bet is to get a genuine Philips 4300K kit somewhere else where you know it'll last.
