i need some help fellas, when i start up my car it idles at 6K
recentl i swaped out my GSR intake manifold for another GSR manifold that was ported and polished and the butterfly where takin out. my car was idleing high at like 3 so i replaced the intake manifold gasket today and went and started it back up the Rpms jump to like 6k and stay there. like it idles there. and im really stumped why. the new gaskets all good, the throttle body gasket it good all lines are connected. its not even like a vaccum leak cuz thatd be a huge leak for it to idle like that. i already tryed to adjust the throttle cable and that didnt help. i then thought that it might be the gasket within the manifold, so i took that apart and its all good. When i take off the intake and put my hand over the throttle body (making it so like no air was getting in, thinking that the RPM's would drop) and it didnt do anything. so im not sure if it the manifold it self or what. so if you guys had any feed back please let me know.thanxz

If you put your hand over the tb and it still revving high, then you have air coming in somewhere, you must of missed a port somewhere.
yeah sounds like a gasket to me.. or a vacuum line.. i would recheck all gaskets and make sure you torqued everything down properly. I had the same problem one time and it was the throttle body gasket...

it would if you had a bad enough vacuum leak.

you either have a missing vacume line you cant see, or maybe a fitting has come loose in the IM causing a big leak.
This would have to be a pretty major leak for it to idle that high.
Have you searched for cracks in the IM, i would look right along the casting lines. there is a pretty small chance of it being dcracked, but it is worth a look.

ooh. wait a sec... i think i heard of people removing the butterflies and there is a hole or two you gotta weld shut/plug.. try searching about removing the butterflies.. there was a couple threads i saw about it and they were having high idle problems too.. check your IM for holes where the butterfly shafts may have been or something... just a thought...
it is possible for a vacum line is off under your im is a black box which is a vacum sorce that can cause it make sure that all of them are on and in the right order. cuz i had the same problem and it was that.
that little black box thingy under the manifold i think has to do with emissions. i actually just took it out and put "t" housing on all the lines so there all still connected together. i also just put back my stock GSR manifold and it idles at 3k for a second, then it threws a code and as soon as it does that the rmps jump to like 6 again?a could it be the idle sensor or whatever its called on the back of the manifold
the IVAC??? I am not 100% sure what they do, but i know i have read about many cars that have had idle problems and they fixed it by cleaning rhe IVAC. But most of them said it was 1000-2000 idle, this is the firt i have seen about a 6k idle
