Default High compression motor with what octane

Hey guys I have a quick question
I'm gathering up some knowledge to build up my LS/Vtec motor and have put in a good amount of information reading and researching.

I was calculating my estimated compression ratio for when my motor is done and it came up with 11.973719167158128 :1 compression so basically 12:1

My motor setup will be a b16a1 head with aftermarket valvetrain with a b18a1 LS bottom, stock LS rods with CTR B16b Pistons.

Would 12:1 compression be too high for running on 92 octane gas?
My friend suggested I go with PR3 B16 pistons and run around mid 11:1 compression.

I am wanting to build up a quick motor but also a reliable one.

I used the following compression calculator from C-speed Racing.

A little too high c/r for 92 octane. It all depends on the wieght of the car the tune and how u drive.

you can get your car tuned to 92 on hondata but i think if you ran a higher octane you would get full power out of that motor.

Thanks for the responses.

I think I'm going to get P30(JDM B16a) pistons and run about 11.5:1 compression and use 91-92 or so octane.

Thanks

I ran 93 with 12.4CR no problems......just tune it. Dont forget to enter 0.00" for piston-deck height.

i don't think you'll be at 12.1 cr, when you calcuated did you take into consideration that the pct sits out of the hole?

Dude check the sticky at the top for compression. Your gonna be at high 12 - 13:1 compression with CTR's. I suggest the P30's if your gonna be running 92 and want it as a reliable less hassle Daily driver. They would put you at about 11.8:1.

12:1 seems like you are playing with fire. Make sure you get a good tune for the type of gas you are planning on running.

Thanks...great site

using the b16 PR3 pistons with the LS block, b16 head and LS rods it came out to 11.3:1
can somebody explain to me the piston the deck height...is it when the piston is TDC or BDC??? and how would you calculate it?

thanks

it is the height of the top base of the piston to the height of the block... if the piston are flush w/ the block, then its zero
