Antenna + Clutch questions
Clutch.... if a clutch is slipping... does it free rev when u just push the clutch in to neutral and it will rev? or if it revs too much after you've shifted gears and start accelerating ?
Antenna - My antenna broke... rather snapped (nothing broke, it popped out in a car wash).... how do I Lift off the silver antenna base so i can put the coord all the way back down to the antenna motor ? Thanks

Your clutch is slipping when it gets hard to shift due to your clutch not fully engaging. Another tell tale sign is when it's in gear and you step on the gas if your RPM's skyrocket and you don't move your clutch is toast. You'll definitely know if this is happening. Best to get that fixed before you mess up other stuff in your tranny.
As far as antenna you can buy antenna masts on EBAY for cheap. It comes with full instructions to install, it's really easy too. There is a little silver ring at the bottom of the mast ontop of the black rubber peice which you have to unscrew first to get the rest out.

Dig behind the trunk panel that hides your antenna and you'll find the mast is connected to the retracting motor. It's all kind of a PITA to take out, but when you do, you could opt to get an aftermarket hidden antenna that won't have that problem and will be lighter (no motor). Only problem is, filling the old antenna hole.

No you don't have to mess with the motor in the trunk at all.

What do you mean? That's part of the problem, I went thru 3 clutchs, I know. I did have other problems with my tranny tho so that might have compounded the problem. But yes a better way to tell is if your RPM's skyrocket and you don't go no where your clutch is slipping.

Clutch slippage occurs when the clutch disc is not grpped firmly between the flywheel and the pressure plate, but it is usually most noticeable in higher gears. it can be caused by an oil-soaked or worn disc facing, warped pressure plate, and weak or broken diaphragm springs, or release bearing contacting the pressure plate.
this is how you find out the problem.
with the parking brake on, disengage the clutch, put it into third gear and increase the engine speed to about 2,000 Rpm. slowly release the clutch pedal until the clutch engages. the engine should stall immediately. if it does not stall within a few seconds, the clutch is slipping.
