Default a/f after 9,000 rpm

i recently decided to build the head of my b16 and am going to chip it after i am finished to reset the rev limiter to 9500 and eliminate the speed governor...

i am running vafc and know that the vafc only controls a/f until 9,000 rpm...

so my question is after 9,000 rpm will the ecu go back to controlling the a/f or what...i figured that the chips just dump fuel in there so it should be alright at those high rpms...i just wanna know what the deal is...im sure that there are others out there who have had to deal with something like this

If your going to be above 9000 rpm's, you will be at WOT anyways. I would get an adjustable FPR and set it correctly for WOT.

mmmm, maybe because stock maps go up to 9k...

your going to have to run a modified map that would allow to control fuel/timing higher than 9k.

how would i go about doing that exactly....but im still trying to figure out if over 9000 rpm will the a/f duty be switched over to the new chip thats mapped till 9500... or will it keep the same ratio that it had at 9000 rpm at 9500 rpm...

Damn dude settle down. He was just trying to lend a helping hand.

I dont have first hand experience with this, but who is your tuner? You must have a trusted tuner if your going past 9,000 (meaning no more stock internals), why not ask him/her

Relax, take a deep breath and re-read. I suggested you may want to go to your tuner for this b/c you are running a vafc. I wasnt suggesting a tuner that built your motor, I figured you were smart and had this car tuned so you can atleast use the vafc correctly (which IMO flails in comparison with hondata, I know cause I had one ). So I guess since you do your own work, you also have a dyno where you tuned your car?

Going pass 9,000 isnt a walk in the park for a daily driven car, therefore youd be smart to have a tuner who knows what he is doing.

the car has never been tuned on a dyno...around the block vafc tuning was used...lol...not tryin to be a dick but some people just wanna post to raise their post count...and they dont offer any pertinent info...

9,000 is a breeze...plus i dont feel the need to visit redline everytime i shift...i save that for the races...yes id much rather have hondata than the vafc hack but for now i deal with what i got...do they even make hondata for obd0? so no one has been able to answer my question yet....anybody got any REAL answers

Well if it was the standard ECU it would just carry the column over.

You could always just test it, put the last column to a number and remember it, go to display (RPM and CORR) watch and see if the value corrected is what you set.

I doubt you will make power over 9,000 rpms.
If you think you can & your motor can handle it go for it.
Crome has something called revtools which allows you to modify fuel/timing values over 9k.

If you decide to tune via the vafc only, your 9k values will be the same values your motor runs on for 9,500 etc.

why do u think i wont make power over 9k?? i know a few people with setups very similar to mine that are still making power up there....
jdm b16a/y1 tranny
3 in. short ram
maxbore TB 62 to 64 mm taper
aebs intake mani
str fuel rail
b&m FPR
supertech valvetrain
sk2s2 cams
dc 4-2-1 headers
vafc
stock bottom end
i think it should support those cams well
even more so when i can build the bottom to raise comp.
thanks for the help
can i get hondata or uberdata for an obd0 car???
