Default Oil Pan Gasket Leak

Hey I have a leak coming from all around my oil pan and i think it is a gasket leak. My question is is that the stock gasket was glued on of some sort, do i need to glue the new one on or do i just place it on the pan? Also I need to torque my bolts and screws on the pan to 8ft lbs right? Thanks in advance.

It's probably some kind of liquid gasket sealant, not glue that is on your oil pan.

I used both a new gasket and sealant when I installed my pan after my turbo install. I haven't had a leak yet.

I don't remember what the bolts torque to, 8lbs sounds about right, I remember it's not much at all.

I have had a similar problem wit my gsr, i installed a new baffled oil pan and torque the bolts to spec and the ****** leaked, so i went and tightened them up some more and no prblems at all since.

btw... if you are taking the pan off just get a new gasket bro. it's like maybe $15 or $20.

Yeah I just bought a new gasket and some gasket sealer. I am going to put the new gasket on tonight and i will try to find a torque wrench to tighten them to 9lbs. Hope it works thanks for the help. If it still leaks I will try to tighten them again a lil bit.

Been there a lot. What i've done is put the sealer on and snug up the pan so that you have contact all the way around. Then wait over night and torque it the next day when the sealer is dry.

Crap, I had a leak on my GSR so I had to take out my downpipe and whole radiator assembly, I cleaned everything up put hondabond on both sides of the gasket let it dry for 20 min and installed it(HOURS). Now 2 weeks later with 15 miles on it its leaking again, WTF.
Is there a aftermarket gasket for this, im thinking of just getting a moroso 4 quart pan that just came out for 125.00 and try to use that. I dont know im just mad crazy that I have to take all this out yet AGAIN. Dam PISsed off

i had the same problem. it was really pissing me off. ended up the pan was warped. flip the pan upside on a flat surface, and look at it parallell to see if you can see any gaps. best, get some simple green and clean off the block very well. do the same to the pan. a razorblade works great.

i personally went by hand on the oil pan...i followed the torque sequence in my hayne's and watched each bolt or not, which ever applied, just until i saw the gasket start to expand out a little bit, until the point you know its sealed.

its been perfect so far, only thing left is to clean off the ge sandwich adapter....and it should be leak free

I just use a tiny 1/4 inch ratchet. That way it is difficult to overtighten, just hold it right up by the head and snug it down by hand and I've never had one leak.
