what are some good tires for straight line performance and high speed cornering? im wanting something thats reasonably priced and still has good tread life.
Personally I like my Dunlop Sport FM 901. They handle great, but remember if your looking for high speed cornering tires will not help if your driving is not up to par.
Not saying your a bad driver but you will have to find out the limits.

what he said, the sidewall is uber stiff, I had 'em and once I measure only 15psi in on tire (bent rim) and the sidewall holds up like at 30psi.
FM901 is great for the price, I've had 'em and had great experiences.
ES100 is rather noisy and had rather poor wearing compare to FM901, I had it on my VW, and found 'em to be less desirable than FM901, but some people love 'em. Good price too.

this isn't for the teg. i have some kumho escta but i don't think their the supra's on the teg.
right now im looking for some good 225/215 45 17's. i woudl like the tr1 but i don't want to spend 180 a tire for the tr1 for something that isn't going to last that long.
but i am also looking for a new set for the teg

I am currently running the azenis and really like them, they track well. I have also heard really good things about the new Fuzion ZRi's. We have a couple members out here in STL who are running the Fuzions and have good things to say about them. The Fuzions are made by bridgestone if that is any indication of quality.
I would say that if you had no problems with $$ to try a set of Bridgestone S03's.
Why not take the suggestions here and do a check on tirerack.com. They have a section where customers rate the tires, whats good and bad about the tires.
