technically its not, because the front is not DOT approved.

if you get pulled over just say it was an option for integras ... just show them the honda markings on the headlights

yup, when and if you get into a front end collision, the insurance company will not cover the conversion because it is not DOT approved nor tested at 5 mph.

aftermarket insurance.

whats funny is if you get in a front end collision the cost to repair the stock parts would be enough to get jdm front pieces replaced... ie headlights bumper hood etc...

only if u have full coverage right?
wouldnt your insurnace be a lot more since they know that you are putting "aftermarket" parts into your car. therefore giving it a higher theft rate.

First of all, a JDM conversion is not allowed in California or any other state for that matter. Just like the other guys mentioned, the headlights are not DOT approved for U.S. highways nor have the front bumper been approved (needs to pass 5 mph collosion test). However, dont worry too much about it. Most cops wont hassle you about it. I've never heard of anyone getting busted with it, however if you did, good luck.

As for insurance, no they wont cover it even if you have full coverage. Like someone else said, you need to get special "aftermarket" insurance which is additional to your current coverage. It'll cost you.

yea you can pay more money on top of your normal car insurance in order to cover modifications etc they take pictures of the car so they know you are telling the truth about what is done etc.

i kinda looked into it awhile ago here in Ohio not sure about other places

wouldn't it just be more cost-effective to have get an estimate for OEM parts and then just have the insurance company write you a check (that you would use to buy the OEM JDM parts)? assuming you don't get in multiple accidents, you wouldn't have to worry about paying extra for insurance, just the little money on top of what they give you to buy the JDM parts. i was under the impression that buying new OEM parts is pretty similar in cost to buying used JDM parts (ie headlights, fenders, bumpers, etc.), so after they write you a check, you have most of the costs paid for.

no problem...because when i got in an accident and most of my stuff were 2nd hand (bought through the classifieds) i told them i had no reciept. they told me to get a rough estimate of the stuff...well i did..and they over paid it...like i bought my slips with tires for $500 with tires off a member... farmers paid me $200 a tires + rims..which ended up being $800 ...etc..etc....and they paid within a week...woah fast good stuff...i had my car back on the road within 7 days with all the suspension fixed..but then i took the extra money and put it toward a new paint job (just for your info..they make the check out to you...oh la la....)

side note..
my integra by itself isnt worth much..but the mods on it is worth somewhat the same value as my integra...i talked to my sales rep and they said they would cover the whole thing....so just incase of an accident and i get my car totaled..i get my investment back
