want, it looks pretty good! as for contamination...naw not really. your never guna get ABSOLUTELY no spatter unless you use anti-spatter spray. looks like you just need to practice keeping your movements consistent. dont try doing joints, just get a big flat piece of steel and just run tons of beads on it, until you can be really consistent with the movement. after that, you can start doing joints. all in all, looks real good!

Its @ 80 amps and 1.25IPM!
As for the differences in speed, thats overhead welding so Its not easy to stand still while ***** falling on ya!

everyone welds differently and most welders take huge offence if you tell them they are doing somthing wrong... it's all about style and personal skills ... everyone does it a different way or a different setting.
it looks pretty good tho.. really nice if it's an overhead, but ya it's kinda wavy just rest your arm that holds near the cone on somthing that doesn't move and you'll be alot smoother.
