Default Underdrive pulleys- performance boost or all hype?

i've heard that Crank underdrive pulleys are unreliable at high rpms, but what about the AEM tru-power pulley kits that use the stock crank pulley? are they worth it? my rex is a daily driver and A/C in Louisiana is a must!

or ?

the idea is to lessen the power taken to drive them. by using a larger diameter crank pully it takes less power to turn it thus giving you more power to the wheels. they wont give much power individualy or with a lightly tuned engine but they in my mind would be worth it if your going for a good build.

right. Dont spend money on useless stuff like crank pulleys etc. and some of them will throw off your balance. Just run stock.

Opinions vary widely about the N1 pulley.....The lack of dampening rubber is proven to be a bad thing. However lots of people run them or similar pulleys on the street with no problems. Personally, I am a bit of a nerd and would not run one my engines

if your car had power steering and ac and all those things, i'd say get an underdrive pulley. but with just a tiny alternator running off of it, it doesn't have that much drag. plus some aren't dampened (but you were looking at larger pullies for the accessories). if you have money to spend, do it, but theres better places to psend it on unless you already have EVERYTIHNG else upgraded.
