Hi all - been having a problem with my transmission for a couple of months now.. got it from a jdm motor supplyer with 25k miles on it, pbb has 35k on it now - first gear seems to be a little difficult to get into.. like it has no catch point, seems like it isnt fully engauged though im almost all the way off the pedal..its really sloppy feeling and sounds awful (revving like that trying to go)..

Anyone have any input? Its like it has an ever changing catch point for first.. but honestly i only notice it really when the cars warmed up and ive been driving a little bit.

are u completely stopped? because there is a 1st gear lock. it dosent allow you to get into first until your are completely stopped for maybe travelling like 1 mph.

yeah, i know, i have to start in second a lot. stop and go traffic sucks.

 

1st gear lock???

i thought you just had to match the rpms up if your rolling and trying to put it into first gear.. like rev it a little match the rpms to where you think 1st gear will be

 

My car locks me out too. I hate it. Both H23 trannies and my H22 tranny do it.

I went for a ride in a member of this site's Prelude and he was able to put it into 1st while going 15mph+. I don't get it.

Revv matching

 

Sry i havent posted in a while, but no it's not when im trying to get in first from a roll. Say i'm just hanging out on a hill, or anywhere flat too.. but fully stopped. When I try to take off its like the clutch is acting up, like the catch point goes from being an inch or two off the floor to almost level with the brake, and its only for that gear.. and though it fully catches level with the brake, it sounds awful up until i get to that point, like its half catching?

Damn, at a loss of words to describe it. Guess itll be taken to a shop for a test drive.

this must not be the case with 5th gens....i go into first all the time when rolling....and for empathy, have you tried shifting into second then back into first to get it to go?
