crap guys, i dont even know what header i want now...
Well, in light of this thread floating around https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1255805, i dont even know what the hell kinda header i want anymore.
Between the smsp, rage/prospeed, dtr, rmf and couple others i cant think of right now, i just dont even know what to do anymore. All of these headers are at the very least, 500 smackers, and i want to know that ive invested my money in something that is at the top. But, with these headers being so expensive, not too many people have bought them, therefore no accurate/realistic dynos are availible. And by realistic, i mean no increased displacement, compression or anything major like that.
I really hate to just to use the "pin the tail on the donkey" technique, but in light of the lack of information needed to make an intelligible decision on my part, all i can do is sit on my fat wallet and throw my arms up and ask what the hell do i do?

Maybe i should note that i drive a 5th gen SH, i thought about modding a greddy, but i didnt want to deal with the associated fitment probs etc,.
the RMF header is awesome,.. if i had the cash thad be my first choice.. i have a megan racing header, and its awesome..<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by yeahdudebrown »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> I had the megan racing and it sucks *****.</TD></TR></TABLE>
u musta got a bad one.. cuz mine makes way more HP than a dc and was less than half the price of the greddy.. and it looks great..

If you're saying it's a toss up, support your locals, go DTR. Unless, if after some research and additional info you find that a different one will work better with your mods, go with it.
Someday when I have the $ I'll have him fab me a custom one.

Seeing that you have a 5th gen... All the headers that you listed are good.
On PO.com there were major gains on the SMSP, ranging on a 25WHP gain proven on a dyno on a JDM h22a. These SMSP headers are very rare used because whoever bought it new is very unlikely to sell it because they like it so much. And dont count on buying one under $500, or even under $800
As for the custom headers such as DTR and Hytech, these headers are also very good ranging from 15WHP and somewhat cheaper than SMSP. New is probably about $875 - $110 and again, don't count I buying one used.
Now for the Mugen header
I have the mugen header, and it was a crazy find since I've been looking for about a month before someone PM'd me about it. Well this header is great in personal opinion, I automatically felt the difference and you can buy one used for around $500 but you have to search and ask around. As for new, its $975 or something.
There is also a T1R (Type One Racing) header availible now for both base and SH. This is a very new header, and the shipment is barely here to their newest customers. I believe its created to be cheaper, and perform better than the mugen, close to $770 I believe new.
If you are planning on buying a Greddy, it should be ok, but it needs modification since the only greddy header made was for the 4th gen. I do not know any results of these, but if people go through modifying it, I'm sure it has some kind of good performance.
Lets talk about the DC, from what I heard, it sucks and the piping is very close to stock size. The only reason limiting DC Sports is because its CARB legal. So yeah, I wouldn't try to spend money on this if you are going into some serious engine work I something.
that is all, hope it helped a little

I poked around, and nothing much has been said about the dtr, and the dyno had to have been done on a h22 with mods, the baseline with a DC was 195

Please keep us posted on the results, im very eager to learn about what it can do for an H22
Blackiswhack: Pretty nice sumup of all the current headers. However, i chose against doing the greddy mod, even though i have one sitting in my garage, because i figured, whats the use of welding on a fat collector to a header with primaries designed for a 2 inch collector? DC is, well, ****, ive heard way to many bad things to even consider it and the dynos show nothing but bad things.
Well, i guess when it comes right down to it, between all of these headers (hytech, dtr, rmf, smsp, etc), there is no loser, only winners. All of these headers have shown to at least create a substantial amount of power. I think ive decided that ill just get the cheapest of the lot, that is, unless, someone has some dynos that prove that one is far more superior, for the money, than another.

the problem with my results are gonna be that i'm not going to be dynoinng my car until i have hondata (mid summer).
the difference in my dyno's will be: my internally stock motor with bolt on's (174whp)
my future dyno will be: cams, header, hondata s200
but im sure if i gain 40 whp we could guestimate how much power the header gave...kinda, lol. I "will" post results of how my butt dyno feels after installing of the header tho (which is going on before the install of the head parts).

**** man, 40whp, what stage cams you going run? 17?
haha
Anyways, yeah, i can settle for a butt dyno. Also, quick question, might as well ask it here, does the rmf clear the ac/ps/crossmember and all that other stuff that might get in the way? Hows the ground clearence supposed to be on it?
