Secret to installing HKS SSQV? C-clip, DOH!!!
Hi, has anyone had a certain technique that they have used that worked well to squeeze that darn c-clip into the BOV flange? I am having a hell of a time with it, and could use a tip. Thanks!
curse words and a lot of sweat.
The "c" clip has a up and down side to it. Mash the BOV into the piping as much as you can (compress the o-ring).

I had to buy some long needle nose pliers and bent them into a 'HKS SS bov C clip installation tool'. I can install the C clip in about 15 secs with it

OK, you guys are gonna laugh at me for this. When I first got the c-clip in, i went out boosting...guess i didn't get a good seal on it, cause next thing i notice is that im not boosting anymore
. Got out of the car, popped the hood to find my hks ss blown off and lying next to my battery. I duct-taped it back on, drove back to my garage from my gf's house and hose clamped it. It stayed hose clamped for the next 8months while the c-clip sat in my car...worked perfect.
ghetto as they come, but i don't give a sh*t

To keep from messing up the finish on the bov I took the outer cover off, also with it off you've got almost a striaght shot at getting to the c-clip.
yup...not only did I take the cover off to avoid nasty scratches on my shiny new SSQ BOV, I installed it onto the pipe before I installed the pipe onto the TB...call me ****, but I even wrapped a clean rag over the BOV while installing the pipe...
yup mine fell off the first time i was boosting. scared the shXt outta me. but that thing is a bX?ch to put on..to say the least.
I got it on! It took some doing (and a set of $11.99 Snap ring pliers from AutoZone) to get it done! I had already taken the cover off of the BOV to get a clear shot at the ring. I got a good hook-up on the little holes and squeezed while my wife pushed the back of the ring down with her thumb. Thanks for the tips guys. I can easily see how the tips of the pliers could break off, that ring is STIFF!!
