according to the product matrix i've read, yes. the tsx coupe is in development and honda has hinted at a market revision for it's acura line. the car isn't selling badly, but sales aren't as good as you might think. the upcoming si is another indication. from a marketing strategy, eliminating the rsx and using the TSX as an entry car positions them better with other competitors like lexus, bmw, infinity, etc.

I doubt they would introduce the K20Z1 and revamp the body for 1 model year. There will be 2 years of that style At least and probably the most.

When the new Civic platform is released Acura would have to change the RSX possibly within the following year (going by the '01 Civic, '02 RSX)if it were going to continue. The Si actually confuses me because Acura seems to have become the sole performance division(except for the S2000) leaving the Si to compete with a hypothetical new RSX. Acura's model range makes sense as it is for the company, but if they want to match Infinity or even BMW the new RSX would require a completely different design strategy, as in stronger engines and possibly rear or all wheel drive. While this is profitable for the more expensive vehicles, the lower models could only be based off Honda vehicles, so any drastic variances would be unlikely. Using this logic maybe the RSX is doomed, and possibly the TSX too unless the global Accord platform changes drastically with the new model range that would allow it to stay competitive. I think the next few years will bring big changes for Honda and Acura.

lol why would honda give the rsx a different engine after one year? thats stupid, and inefficient from a business perspective.
i believe the redesign will last the 2+ years
dc5 is the last integra/DC?

Adding some parts from the actual type r motor and messing around with the ecu isnt a new motor. I doubt Honda spent that much R&D on the K20z1. Even though it being only 2 years its still feasble. You have to look at the big picture.
Had the RSX remained 200 hp with no redesign until 2007 it would be bowing out with slumping sales. In order to remain competative the last 2 years of production a mild redign was necassary. The cost of changes im sure was justified with projected forcasts of redigned sales. Honda is not stupid. One thing they do best is efficient business. They have teams and teams of analysts studying market conditions. The redisgn was justified. Its allowing one of the greatest platforms of all time to have one last hooraw.

People have to look at the big picture and the direction Acura is planning to go down the line in years to come. The talk of "a redisgn and new motor for only 2 years is stupid and irrational, etc!?!" is silly.

That would seem like a prudent move given the success Toyota/Lexus have enjoyed over the last decade. Cant really argue with the worlds largest car producer.
Acura is already somewhat cast out among Lexus, Infiniti, BMW shoppers. Although they give great car for the money I think the lack of rear wheel drive in a rear wheel drive market and a hard time with a consistent brand image has hurt their sales in the intro-lux market. Making the TSX and TSX Coupe the entry cars would be great, good price points, some refinement, but also spirited driving.
On the other hand Honda then has to step up for younger and poorer (like me) folks. They need to offer a REAL Si and/or CTR and it would be great if they brought the Jazz/Fit to the US. As I understand it this car is about the size of an eg and weighs less, sounds like an awesome car for a Si format.

I don't think sales have been hurt in any of the cars in the lineup..even the NSX has sold enough to be around for about 14 years..

2006 will be the last year if even a year for the RSX. I heard about this a long time ago from honda people.
If you think about it, the move is very smart.
Push the rsx/ep3 crowd towards the new Civic, but also give them an option to upgrade to a 2 door or 4 door TSX.

we'll all know in a few months whether there will be an 06 rsx.
other than that, everyone's guess is as good as mine as to what will happen in 2007. i sure hope the rsx stays around, but you know how the saying goes - nothing gold can stay.

Who in their right mind would pruchase a 215 hp 2006 DC5 ?? The fact is if they price it as to what the 210 is maybe they will sell but if they boost the price for the 215hp then they wont make any sells in respects to that. I think they should cut the model as of now and not bother with a 2006 version.

cheep up guy...
the end could only mean the begining of something new, possible better.
just look at the B serries, ending it was not so bad, i gave way to the K serries.
i'm sure whatever replaces the Dcs would be an upgrade.

False. They will not replace an Acura with a Honda.
