Road Trip To DFE Enterprises:beaches, ITBs, HEader testing and more
Johnzm and I took a road trip down to DonF's shop to drop my 2.0l off and to pick up some customers heads, blocks. We also were able to SQUEEZE in some Engine Dyno time on a 2.0l motor he had there. Heres some pics:
It all started here

Orange Viper on the Freeway

million dollars worth of Vettes

My 2.0L stuff

Some Headers we tested on a 2.0l motor

Engine Dyno BLING

Phantom GriP Rocker Arms (one of the only set in the country)

SUPRA !!!!!

we got side tracked and went to the Beach

Don's Talented Dog

While we were down there , Don was kind enough to do some quick testing on a few headers i had left over from the header test. This is just some quick testing, 3 runs were made on each header, and there was very minimal tuning. Results:
Dyno Results:
Motor-11.5:1 b20vtec, "big" cams, Jenvey ITBs, MILD port work
Results were taken from the AVERAGE hp and Tq between 6000-8800 RPMs. Peak numbers were very similar in all runs. HIghest peak numbers on this motor were 284. this is flywheel power BTW
HYTECH:
Average Hp-237
Average Tq-169.6
SMSP 4-2-1 Long Tube (CUSTOM, not his production set)
Average Hp-244
Average Tq-174
SMSP 4-1 Prototype (production 4-1)
Average Hp-241
Average Tq-172
What does this show you, that the Hytech is not designed for a 2.0L motor. it simply cannot breath. The RMF header , we needed a 3 bolt flange and no one in jacksonville had one, so it'll bedynoed today or tomrrow and ill have the results.
this doesn't change anything from us doing our PT2 header test, i just thought it was kind of cool to see some pulls on an engine dyno

I have ordered three sets for customers. The first set was easy the second and thirs set was an act of God to get!!! They are very hard to get now actually unfortunately.

i would think much better. John@hytech even told us that he didnt expect us to see great numbers. his header wasnt designed for a 2.0l, and this tesdt proved it

Need to sort a few numbers as John and Mike were talking about Thongs at the beach. All runs were averages of 3 or more runs. Doing a spread from 6000-8700 RPM means more than peak #'s. But here are the peaks Production Hytec 4-2-1 268.6 @ 8100. Production SMSP 4-1 275.5 @ 8700. Custom SMSP 4-2-1 277.6 @ 8500, 8600, 8700 RPM. TQ #'s Hytec 172.7 @ 5600, 176.1 @ 6500, 173.9 @ 8000. SMSP 4-1 production 174.3 @ 5700, 175.8 @ 6400, 177.5 @ 7900. SMSP 4-2-1 Custom 174.8 @ 5700, 179.9 @ 6500, 178.6 @ 8000. If I had known they were going to post a picture of "TURBO" the wonder dog I would have held in my tummie. As soon as the adaptor arrives I will run the RMF header, and looking @ the photos you can tell he coppied SMSP and HYTEC. Just a joke.

Hehe! No. If you buy a set you will know once you get your motor up and assembled

FYI -
The 4-2-1 header that was tested is the one I built for my H1 car, so it's different than a full out B20 header like something that is on Tbone's engine.

There is a local guy who's doing a K24 DC2 swap that I'll be working on soon, so to answer your question, yes.

what would the drive train loss be, in % so i can calculate what these engines would be making to the wheels? good topic

those are some good #'s to the wheels, if that % is correct!
