Default Does anyone have a prelude which doesn't burn oil???

I swapped the JDM H22A W/LSD into my car, and its starting to burn oil, so i'm going to change the PCV Valve, and probably do an oil flush, i replaced every seal, and gasket and i know it doesn't leak oil. I just hope i don't have to do a rebuild

I ran a search, and from what i can see everyone's prelude burns oil, does anyone have a prelude that does not burn oil??

Mine doesn't burn anymore oil than any of my other cars. I don't run my car hard as often as 99% of the people on this site do though.

i personally don't burn hardly any oil, but i'm rarely in vtec.

i've read other posts and plenty of ppl burn oil. i wouldn't worry to much about it unless it's excessive.

EVERY car burns some oil. The question is how much. My car burns hardly any oil. I can drive 3000 miles without havig to top it off.

okay well thats good to hear, i've run 5000km's roughly 3000miles, and the oil is at a quarter thats real excessive, and i added a half litre somewhere's in there

well its good to know that i'm trying to achieve something that is possible.

Burning oil is a natural process of every engine, even new engines burn oil but it’s minimal. Now if you burn oil like a 2 stroke then you got a problem

i go through oil like vodka Theres no visible leak on the ground, i tried looking on the top of my collector - nothing, and I don't think im burning bc I see no smoke from my exhaust or when I pull the dipstick. Usially have to add ~3 qts every 3k miles.

I don't burn oil ever since my block was sleeved and I switched pistons and rings. Don't have many miles on my build at all but I've noticed no oil level drop whatsoever!

all h22's will burn oil because the engine walls arent made of the same materials as most other engines and will therefore from the factory burn about a litre of oil every 5000 km. when you start either racing or you just have higher mileage, this increases. try switching from 5w-30 to 10w-30. it will slow the process down and keep you better lubricated. my burned mad oil before i switched to thicker viscosity.

Nice misinformation! I have a JDM H23A (esentially the same thing as an H22A) and it doesn't burn a drop of oil...

compression test? leakdown test? 3 quarts is a lot. that is more than half the oil you put in during every oil change. you have a problem with ur car.

ALL motors burn oil, some arent even noticeable because its very small amonts like mine. Do you guys think that the pcv system is perfect??? your oil "small amonts" travel tru there str8 to your IM. And oil vapor leals out oil in small amonts to when you bypass it. In other words every car burns oil some more than others.

Man, I am amazed to see some of the names of people who I thought knew what they were talking about say that motors don't burn oil. *shakes head*

My engine didn't burn a noticeable amount of oil before I put the blower on, and I drove it hard all the time.
